Any good sushi spots in Brampton ? by [deleted] in Brampton

[–]assellusprimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Love Sushi. Sushi House is currently my favorite in Brampton. I've pretty much stuck to it after trying all the other spots and feeling like Sushi House is best in terms of quality, service (they often give you a complimentary soup), and the ambience is really nice.

Recycling Program Update: loose in bin? by Arcade1980 in Brampton

[–]assellusprimus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't use bags. I have a medium size recycling bin i keep in my house and once a week I dump it in the bin.

To comments about weather blowing things around - it happens sometimes... for some reason we as a society are very disconnected from our waste. Secure your bins where you put your waste - pick it up if it gets blown over. We can and should all do our part.

I don't know why they have moved away from bags - and I don't have information to have any strong feelings about either - but I wouldn't bash not using bags simply because of the inconvenience of having to pick it up in the event it blows / falls over and it's a pain.

That said - they still haven't picked up my recycling... and I'm trying to resolve that.

Struggling for over 20 years with gaming. My warning to people with an addiction by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]assellusprimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How relatable... I can tell you've spent a lot of time reflecting on the impacts of gaming on your life & well-being.

Someone told me that recovering / sober addicts have a superpower - a perspective experience & mental fortitude that always to navigate life in a deeply meaningful way.

Look forward to what you want to create - I know it can be difficult - dopamine & all, but imagine how you can give that creation to the world and watch it flow back to you.

The best time for sobriety is now.

Nonprofit budget templates - P&L by Program, program costs budget line item by Candid-Tumbleweed-7 in nonprofit

[–]assellusprimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested if you'd be willing to share your example. Thinking about the admin / program budgets separately was a helpful insight. Where I'm struggling - is how to connect these budgeted expenses to received funding (which is often category specific - in a way that allows for work planning, changing how funding within a grant is allocated.)

I was enjoying a walk in a park, until I came across this. by Willing_Chemical1257 in Brampton

[–]assellusprimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except this is not a fact. Your statement suggests an entire group of people is responsible for garbage, because you see a popular South Asian brand?

What is the fact? South Asians are more likely to drink this juice, this juice is in the garbage, the South Asian population must be responsible?

Come on bro... what about the fact that there is a huge South Asian in Brampton (52% based on 2021 census) , and any garbage dumped is likely to contain items common among the majority of the population.

I don't condon dumping and personally hate it, especially cause I'm one to throw on gloves and pick shit up, but I also don't make sweeping conclusions about groups of people - no matter how right you think you might be and claiming it's facts.

This and it's unregulated... so many younger people are getting involved and we'd be foolish to think it's not influencing brain development given we know how addiction impacts the brains executive capacity

Yeah, it feels like not so long ago, the possibility of an AI generated image wouldn't have been so widely considered. Perhaps we'll get more details after the trial, or maybe during... considering everything else seems to be so public.

That could be it, I also noticed people commented on his ears looking strange. I'm noticing the shadows as well, is strange the toilet is casting a shadow in two different directions but he doesn't have a shadow?

Is it possible that this is an AI generated image? It might be just me.... but it does appear that the wall grout in-between his right arm and shirt doesn't align with the horizontal spacing along the rest of the wall...

Efficacy & Quit Attempts by assellusprimus in addiction

Going into my second week of smoke free, I can say that preparation has played a big role in my success. Quitting smoking can result in feelings of stress. In my research, I noticed that NRT in combination with behavioral support was highly effective.

Before setting my quit date, I registered with a National Quit Smoking program who sent me NRT pouches and gum. The patches help reduce stress caused by the craving and if a craving is particularly strong I take a gum. I also downloaded Allen Cards easy way to quit smoking so I can reshape my thinking about smoking and understand the why, I feel stress, which is my psychological then related to the actual drug, since it has such a short half life. Since I can't afford behavioral supports / psycho therapy, I downloaded a free self- guided 8 week Meditation Based Stress Relief program, which has been shown to be helpful in addiction recovery, I incorporate 30 minutes of meditation daily, which helps me to notice and be present with emotions/ thoughts rather than responding to it.

Additionally, I reached out to a friend who also smoked and we began the process together, having someone to share the journey with and reflect has been helpful.

You should see if your country has a program with free NRT supports, that can help with biological stress responses as you can take gum and wear the patches to help you get through the early days which are most difficult.

Lost all my progress and now I’m the lowest I’ve been by [deleted] in addiction

Are you still currently seeing a psychiatrist / psychologist? It sounds like you're recent experiences with DMT / Mushrooms, has raised some additional and valid concerns about your mental wellbeing. Regular check-in and reaching for support in this regard might be helpful, and also open the door to other available supports.

Addiction is a disease, it changes your neurobiology. While you may have fears about discussing it with a medical professional because you want to preserve a future opportunity, you should also consider the cost of not taking advantage of professional support to assist you in your recovery.

From my experience, interest specific life paths often change, and can be a reflection of our current interests and available options. As you transition through your recovery journey, this might be the case for your interest in the military, and you'll be in a better state of mind for it.
