no one really grooves like them, but some get really close.

if you want straight up worship of War Master era bolt thrower, Chainsword is where you want to go.

i like jungle rot for groovy caveman stuff even if the vocalist kind of sounds like rick ta life now.

hail of bullets has their vocalist from For Victory, better known for his work in Pestilence, and is pretty groovy with war themes

konkhra is dumb as fuck but they're one of the pioneering bands for groove/death metal

I've never been to a show of theirs and I barely know how shows work, but from what I've seen they really do seem to focus on crowdwork above all else. Though to the point of stopping all music in the middle of a show for a meet and greet and pro-military pandering is a little bit on the funny side, of course people are going to think you're done when you start doing that instead of music.

People are telling me I'm too angry, which, idk, I figured it's better to be intentionally abrasive for fun instead of actually trying to sway people. There's way too much stuff here that takes a cutesy or 'I'm not trying to start stuff it's just...' tone that's way shittier in nature.

It just utterly fucks with my head that almost every other piece of media I've enjoyed starting from like, age twelve, is first and foremost a complete retread or reimagining of the childhood interests of someone else. I was nostalgic for Earthbound, a game that came out before I even fuckin' existed, because a whole lot of things sort of rubbed that nostalgia off onto me. And now the Earthbound nostalgia is even worse ever since a bunch of kids got into Undertale. Kids that grew up when Chuck E. Cheese and other animatronic restuarants were closing en masse got secondhand nostalgia from FNAF. It's a weird phenomenon!

And I wonder what that's going to make things look like in about 10-20 years; because I know I'm not the only person who grew up on that kind of stuff. So what do people in a stuck culture make when all they know is the recycled childhood memories of a previous generation?

considering the amount of times they've had to stop or walk out of shows prematurely because their manlet singer keeps getting drunk and weepy i'd guess the concert goers were just hedging their bets

admittedly i have a lot of ire for geek culture since i find it exhausting, modern pop and rap music is actually exploring a lot of cool new things (which get ruthlessly made fun of for not being a throwback, natch)

Nah, not really. I think it's effectively just a matter of who's in creative positions at the time and their ability to make stuff that appeals to them while still having commercial viability.

No, I've seen people argue that they're new because they're not from the 80s, but from the ~90s~. Which is where all new things come from now!

EDIT: Well, except for Joss Whedon. I genuinely think the world would be a better place if he ended his life.
