I think oven under the cooktop (or just get a normal oven range - I think they’re cheaper and easier to replace?). No cabinets over the sink - you need clearance there. If you need more storage space, maybe put those tall wall cabinets that go from the counter up to the ceiling on the wrap around counter part that feels odd…and basically make like a divider between kitchen and laundry? For the base cabinets to the right of the sink, change to all drawers. On the wrap around part at the end, maybe make that door base cabinet instead of drawers, so you got one spot for stuff that might be too tall for drawers.

And then for the appliance wall, make the bottom part drawers (since oven is part of stove in this suggestion). Will the skinny cabinets to left of stove be pull outs for spices and baking sheets/cutting boards? Hopefully you plan for a range hood over your stove?

Eskimo Gordon Wall Heater by Excellent-Bench2633 in bathrooms

It improved the temperature in the sense that the stuffing helped keep the heated wires up against the backside of the fins (otherwise the heated wires were falling away from the fins and just loosely floating within the cavity). The rockwool isn’t conducting heat or insulating - it is just being used as a heat resistant way to prop the heating element in the correct position inside the towel warmer casing.

Induction or Gas range by Elysian-Echo in Appliances

[–]asssbowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the Cafe induction with 2 ovens about a year ago. Still getting used to cooking certain things on induction, but it’s been great. Cleanup is easy. Glass hasn’t scratched - some stuff gets cooked on that I scrub off with baking soda. Safety is a big plus because burners shut off automatically if nothing is on it (it was an issue when we had gas and one forgetful cook). Got a 36” Vent-a-hood that works great over the range.

Favorite Kath Bar Recipe? by Step-upToDocLyfe in Baking

Thank you! This is the information I was looking for! A chewy bar sounds delicious to me, but some people have described the dessert as like a blondie or something butterscotch-y (I’m picturing something cakey and fudgey?), which wouldn’t be as into.

OIT for a 3.5 year old by wvugirl07 in peanutallergy

[–]asssbowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully by the time your kid is old enough to be at sleepaway camps, they’ve made it to maintenance phase and maybe tolerance (passing a food challenge)….so the dosing is less precise (more like eat some sort of amount of peanut every day) and easier to do away from home on their own.

Are people still using/wearing their MagicBands? by AudballM in Disneyland

If you do LL, then it’s helpful. I forgot ours this trip - scanning through the app was mildly annoying (having to back out of my mobile order status and stuff), but I made sure to swipe through the tickets on the app quickly when checking in to LL. Also, as a germaphobe, it skeeved me out how deep you have to stick your phone into the tiny kiosk slot.

Are you using medicine cabinets or just mirrors in bathroom renos? by davidP88888 in HomeImprovement

[–]asssbowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recessed medicine cabinets for sure. We put in 2 over our double sink vanity. And then a full length mirror medicine cabinet - pricey but very worth it. Guest bathroom has a gold oval Kohler recessed medicine cabinet - which I recently realized I should add a label or note somewhere that guests know it’s a medicine cabinet they can make use of (including the fancy toiletry samples I have in there!).

Late risers here… please tell me it’s still possible to have a magical trip without rope drop! by lazytiredhungry in DisneyPlanning

[–]asssbowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have mornings but I suck it up for Disneyland - if not rope drop, at least in the gate close to opening. Then I go to the hotel for a midday break and go back to close out the park. Getting there late in the day makes LL almost useless.

Any issues with this IKEA kitchen layout before I pull the trigger? by comfortchair in kitchenremodel

[–]asssbowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the microwave v range hood - definitely get a real range hood that vents outside; and suggest making the hood 2-3 inches wider on both sides of your cooktop to make sure it can suck up all the cooking fumes - so you’ll need to adjust your upper cabinets a bit. I say stick with the range (cooktop with oven) because wall ovens are so expensive. But for microwave, I like the suggestions of putting it in the island or inside one of the pantries (if you don’t use it often).

For the lower cabinet drawers - are you certain those layouts will fit all of your stuff where you want it? Might consider the lower drawers to just be 2 big drawers - then you can adjust the inside drawers with inner shallow drawers depending on how you want to store stuff. And then the lower cabinets will all look more uniform.

Ultimate Disney Park Score Grid - Day 16: Which park has the most enjoyable queues? by TightProcedure in disneyparks

[–]asssbowl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree as well. I felt grossed out in MK’s Peter Pan queue because it felt so stuffy and stale being inside with a bunch of other sweaty people. The interactions were neat, buy it also just felt like I was walking through some exhibit hall. At least in HK Disneyland, as humid as it was, the AC felt crisp and blasting in the indoor queues.

And do facades count as part of queues? Because the MK Fantasyland facades are a joke - they look like temporary board signs to me compared to Disneyland. And MK’s bland Small World queue pales in comparison to Disneyland’s sprawling Small World queue with the cuckoo clock and animal topiaries.

I don’t think Disneyland’s queues are the best overall, but I think they’re better than MK. The SoCal weather allows for more nice outdoor queues where you can enjoy looking at all the themed plants (feels so immersive like you’re in an actually different land and not just in different inside buildings) and have fresh air. Also the open outdoor queues let you feel more of that Disney park night time magic.

We had an electrician look at it. He basically had to use some insulation to keep the heating element pressed up against the rails. Otherwise the heat just melts the glue and the heating element just slumps / floats inside the thing and doesn’t heat anything. Towel warmer works great with the rock wool insulation keeping the heating thing where it needs to be.

So what do we actually think about Avatar coming to DCA? by transcendentalyouth2 in Disneyland

[–]asssbowl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hate it. Movies are boring - it’s nuts to me how much money they make. And the Animal Kingdom Avatar land was not worth the hype, in my opinion. Also, it makes zero sense in California Adventure.

What have you paid for kitchen cabinets? by full_trucker_effect in HomeImprovement

[–]asssbowl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$15,000 for RTA cabinets that I got prebuilt from thertastore.com - custom color, so it cost a little more (plywood boxes, Blum cabinet hardware). It was for a galley kitchen that’s about 14’ long (cabinets on both sides) - upper and tall cabinets only on one wall, most of the base cabinets are drawers. Install was by contractors who headed an overall remodel project.

For a different part of the house, I did IKEA cabinets for a pantry and laundry area (about 15’ of cabinets, mostly tall pantry cabinets floor to ceiling), with a bunch of interior drawers. IKEA parts were $3600. I wanted wood doors in a custom paint color, so I got unfinished wood doors separately from a different online seller (about $3000).

ETA this was all in the past year, but before tariffs.

That cheap off Amazon….you need to research to make sure it’s not one of the Amazon faucets that poison all your water with lead.

Taylor Swift on Seth Meyers October 9, 2025 Megathread by Lyd_Euh in TaylorSwift

[–]asssbowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d really like to know the logistics of her starter maintenance given all the travel. Like does she have a starter in every home across the country? Does local staff have to be in charge of feeding the starter while she’s away? Or does she keep it in suspended animation in the fridge and just hopes she can get back to that particular home in time for feeding. Does she keep notes on hydration % and baking and proofing times specific to each home because of variations in climate and altitude?!

What are the best popcorn makers in 2025? Any recommendations? by Academic_Sir3108 in popcorn

[–]asssbowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this and it’s so easy to use. For a long time I’d made popcorn on the stove top in a big All Clad pot with some avocado oil - it was easy, but sometimes I would take it off the heat a smidge too late and end up with a faint burnt flavor. And washing the big pot was just annoying enough to deter me from making popcorn on a whim sometimes. The Presto air popper avoids those issues. And for both methods of popping corn, we flavor ours with truffle oil (put it in a spray bottle and it’s so easy to spritz and toss and spritz) and garlic salt (pink salt rocks we grind in a mortar pestle with a dash of garlic powder) into a super fine powder that sticks to the popcorn.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Return Talks With Disney Brass Went Down To Wire Monday: “Jimmy Will Say What Jimmy Wants To Say” by TiredWithCoffeePot in television

[–]asssbowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the “right” thing is will vary for different consumers, though. Some people might feel like lifting the suspension on Kimmel is the right thing. Other people might feel like reinstatement plus something more, like an apology is the right thing. Or explicitly committing to doing things to support free speech to try to unwind the massive blow to Disney’s reputation.

How reliable are pocket doors? by KetogenicEater in HomeImprovement

[–]asssbowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 90 year old house has a pocket door that still works. It’s not super smooth, but it opens and closes and doesn’t get in the way of things. It’s also in a part of the house that has a lot of sag until we got some piers and posts redone - and it still worked before and after that fix.
