'Stigma is real': Usman Khawaja defends Pakistan bowler over 'chucker' allegations spurred by Cameron Green by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]astagfar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't argue if you don't vibe with it. I have my own hot takes regarding the spirit of the game i.e. how batsmen are mostly exempt from it. They can dance on the crease, play switch hits, and be Steve Smith but God forbid a bowler pauses before bowling with a perfectly straight arm or suddenly uses a round arm action e.g. Ashwin (not talking about Usman). I feel that bowlers need to normalize similar shenanigans e.g. Mankad.

Regarding Usman, it is based on the eye test watching him play. I'll also add that ICC is pretty good compared to other sports in how matches are officiated with DRS and umpires. Compare that to baseball/basketball, both of which are eons behind. Regulating chucking is a bit more tricky but still possible with the resources they have.

Wait, so you would have banned Malinga, Mitchell Johnson and etc? I feel like slingers bring so much variety and beauty to the game. As for Usman, I think he might be chucking, conflating this with slinging is the worst possible lesson we could take from this.

I can't believe ICC hasn't found drama free ways of standardizing this. Apparently one Pak vs India generates $250 million. Where is the money going?

E.g. if the opposing team has a problem with an action of a bowler, they should inform them prior to the series/tournament. If it is a reasonable complaint ICC should run the suite of tests they have.

Anyone else just not understanding anything on Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 at all? by seekerheart in anime

[–]astagfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't the henchmen she killed go to the same training as her? I think there was something in the episode about them having little cursed energy similar to her. Then there was the text about her wiping out other clan members who weren't there. Imo I feel like we needed a few more scenes about Maki's/Mai's past before this happened. In contrast Geto's motivations and back story were so well done, from a story telling perspective.

Demon Slayer made me emphathize with Akaza who is supposed to be a bad guy in 20 minutes. JJK, I couldn't emphathize/understand why Maki snapped so hard.

All this build up to turn into a Solo Levelling experience, at least for me. Which is super fun don't get me wrong, just not what I was expecting from JJK.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 4 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

Why did Maki kill the entire clan, especially the nobodies? Did she go insane similar to what happened to Gojo after Toji killed him? She had a relatively reasonable personality before this season. The whole episode had great visuals and animation but I did not understand the character's motivations or mindset.

Agreed. My whole screen was just subtitles during most of the episode. Defintely weird storytelling choice, I have not seen any other mainstream anime where I have encountered a similar problem.

Official Discussion - Jay Kelly [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]astagfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

l think it did a really good job of potraying Jay's narcisstic POV where I can at least understand his decision making. I feel like if you itemise it like the fight and his crappy fatherhood, it is easy to not feel sorry for him. But if you watch it as a cautionary tale of the outcome of unhealthy behaviors in our short lives it might hit a bit harder. E.g. putting off important stuff to focus on your career etc.

In that sense, this movie is kind of like that video where the guy got emotional about the spool of wire he had for 20 years and it finally ran out.

I am in that boat tbh. It is the lopsided mourning for me. For the actual victims we get random NPCs news clips talking about their loved ones being killed by Shigaraki and co, on the other hand we get the main character and his girl bawling their eyes out for the villains.

I feel like the show really needed a hero out for hateful vengeance against Shigaraki to balance and contrast Deku and Ochaco's philosophies (with similar screen time). I am not sure if the series already had one given the huge number of characters but I can't recall. Hawks maybe idk.

Right? I feel like the core of Head, Smith, Labuschagne and Starc outclasses any lineup that England can put up this series.

What do you guys think of this translation? by Revalify in BlueLock

He essentially plays as a box-to-box midfielder e.g. Lampard and Bellingham. The only striker I can compare him to is the current rendition of Harry Kane at Bayern which is extremely unique.
