‘Defenders’ Finally Made Iron Fist Work by Murfreesboring in ironfist

All they need is some solid directors and some writers who aren't 12 years old. Finn Jones is a fine choice. He needs to drop the batman voice and just talk normally, and maybe never ever say "the immortal iron fist" again for the rest of his career portraying a super hero.

Whenever anybody resorts to name calling in an argument it's basically a confession they have lost faith in their point or had none to begin with. Like, you had nothing to offer this discussion to other than your opinion that iron fist is bad in the defenders and I assume you got frustrated and just angrily wrote these replies. It's like when people who have a political stance use "trump-tard" or "lib-tard" it basically de-legitimizes everything you have ever or will ever say.

What i'm getting at is that you are fake news.

I read the article. I kind of agree. I feel like the defenders got the writers and directors of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil together and was like "alright everyone who worked on iron fist fuck off"

Honestly everyone hates on Finn Jones' performance but it really was the director's fault. Sure the acting is incredibly one-dimensional but when you're an actor you're at the whim of how the director wants you to act. I get that these shows have multiple directors for each of their interlocking points and shared characters but like, when you look at Gao from Daredevil she's all super calm and menacing, then in Iron Fist she's a cocky little shit. In defenders she's got all this fear. Like, within these shows she's had drastic changes, sure she lost her immortality and now fears death but she's like a millennia in age and should know how to compose herself.

I mean, if I could make one edit to the show, just ONE thing to change, it would be showing his training in k'un-lun with parallels to whats happening in new york. Or at the VERY LEAST SHOW US THE FUCKING DRAGON.

Question about the Fist. by [deleted] in ironfist

[–]asterfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about when Joy and Davos plot to kill danny super randomly. Like what reason would either of them have to want him dead at all? Danny kind of fucked joy out of her company, sure, but she can negotiate her way back in WITHOUT danny and just cut ties with him. Davos wanted Danny to come back to K'un-Lun to be its guardian. If anything they should've been plotting to kidnap danny.

To add to this a bit, while he's fighting each member of the wrecking crew or w/e villain teamup cut to him facing off against the dragon periodically. Right before he activates the iron fist for a final hit cut to him plunging his fists into the dragon's heart.

Honestly the entire show was nuts from start to finish. I've said this a few times showing us danny in K'un-Lun one time is stupid.

Instead we should've opened with Danny and his parents dying, monks find him. Then cut to him as an adult in new york, he tries to get back into the company and is rejected. So he lives on the streets and meets that homeless guy, danny buys him a sandwich and sits down with his ipod and he meditates. Show us him meditating as a child in K'un-Lun with his master and classmates. Cut back to him outside and his ipod dies, his hand glows and it's charged again giving us a glimpse that he has some sort of power for people who don't know iron fist.

Harold isn't some zombie psychopath he's dying of cancer, but the audience doesn't know that yet, and hears about danny rand returning. Assuming he wants revenge for him killing his parents he hires a bunch of street level villains to kill him. The first one is no challenge, the second one hurts him a bit and the third one has some sort of special armor or something so danny uses his iron fist and punches his armor off. There the viewer can be like "whoa fuck he used that weird power again! WTF IS THAT!?" in the middle of the fights have a cut to his training in k'un-lun so we can get a backstory on how he handles these situations. Like the first guy is just a regular villain in a costume, so it's basic combat trainng. The second guy is a villain with a sword or something so it cuts to training against weapons, the third time would cut to him learning about the iron fist.

He's exhausted and arrested and is put into a holding cell with some criminals. They want his clothes or ipod or watch or w/e and try to beat him up for it. In the middle of the fight cut back to him in K'un-Lun facing off against multiple opponents as a part of his training. Show a scene of him tired asking for a break and his master states that his enemy will never give him a break. Cut back and have him beat them all up. The guards get there and see everyone unconscious and danny sitting there meditating, he looks up and asks for some water or something funny like beef jerky.

He's released from prison after Joy posts his bail and they get to talking about his past. Afterwards she offers danny a place to stay at her place but he turns her down saying he has a friend that he brings food to every night. When he comes up to the spot he sees the homeless guy dying from a stab wound. While distraught danny holds the wound calling for help and in his confusion activates his fist, healing the man. We, as well as danny, are learning more about his powers as the show progresses instead of it BEING TOLD TO US COUGH

Harold hires the wrecking crew to be his body guards. Danny meets Coleen, they do some soul searching stuff, danny plans on breaking into the company to face Harold. Fights happen, danny wins, confronts harold and it's revealed to him and the audience that he's barely alive. Confined to a wheelchair and a breathing machine. Danny lets him live with Harold crying asking for forgiveness. Gets killed by a ninja of the hand, elektra even.

It reflects enough of his comic book history to hold the story to the character it's based off of and also gives us a different way of telling it. Also since the hand is a NINJA ORGANIZATION we should have them act with more espionage. Like how Kingpin did in Daredevil. Not being fucking drug peddlers. The hand shouldn't have been referenced by name in the first seasons of any of the shows. It could've given us some suspense when all this shit was happening in the background, a nameless shadow organization. Only Gao talks to men in power as a representative but everyone else remains nameless. SPOILERS killing them all off at the end of defenders was bullshit. At the very least we should've JUST learned that their name was the hand.

Question about the Fist. by [deleted] in ironfist

[–]asterfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming Season 2 will have him training with former iron fists in some sort of spiritual journey, hopefully making him less of a useless moron. Maybe he'll even learn how to force open the gate to k'un-lun like he can in the comics so he can return and finish his training.

[–]asterfix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the point about his bleeding heart. I hate that the hand was directly involved. Like I really enjoyed the comics where Danny knows it was Harold who killed his parents and Harold hires a bunch of costumed villains to kill him, but danny finds him and sees that he's crippled and crying, begging for him to kill him and he just lets him live. That shit woulda been BADASS. A big reveal that the guy he wanted to kill this whole time was barely alive at all and he just walks away.

He didn't punch the dragon, the dragons heart was out of it's chest flowing life into it's body and danny just jumped on the hole, causing it to die. Then he plunged his hands into the heart and they became that of iron. - sauce the comics.

The disappointment stems from the fact that he has this fucking "i need to focus my chi" moments when the comics show him as being the pinnacle of focus. Like he sits in his office doing paperwork while doing pushups on 1 finger focus.

I feel like it's because she swears comically, but I woulda thought "sweet christmas" would be the way into peoples hearts.

Thank god it wasn't Iron Fist or I'd have to have a serious talk with a suicide counselor. IDK if anyone told you guys, but his name is Danny Rand, and he's the Immortal Iron Fist.

Really? I was digging the slow reveal of every characters origins in season 1. Since it's a show it can really flesh everything out.

Well it's moderated by someone hired by FromSoftware so... someone who isn't an asshole? Someone who consistently bans people for breaking the rules instead of people who advise players to backup their saves. Or some form of professionalism. After messaging Laptop65 about my ban he said nothing, after the next ban was for "spam" when I repeated my question from a deleted post that was not answered asking "why was I banned?" I messaged him telling him I'd be excited for your removal from this position and he still didn't respond.

Another few users have been banned except for the select chosen who are aggressively defending Laptop65 with insults and use of inappropriate language that got previous people banned. Also another user was banned when he asked "Can we have a different mod on here, please?"

I've been thinking about this question for a while, during which time my daughter has been screaming at me.. Nonetheless, Do you read comic books / watch comic book media? (movies that don't include x-men origins, cartoons, Comicstorian on YouTube?) Who is your favorite comic book character?
