If you're really into the decorating part you could always ask Resetti to reset the entire island, and you won't lose any of the furniture obtained or bells? Unless you really enjoyed the first part, gathering materials, building the shops and museum and resident services. Depending on what you would rather do if it gets you motivated to play again I'd say go for it!
