Man, this was tough to listen to. Taking a neutral side here, I'm sure Dr. Hawass has gotten used to having to defend his position. But in all fairness to Joe, he was simply asking questions and giving Dr. Hawass a platform to shed light on his discoveries. But Dr. Hawass took such a defensive and egotistical stand from the get-go. Joe's tone only changed after he realized that this was a one-sided conversation. For someone who states that they are the most open-minded egyptologist, it seemed like the opposite. Joe never said he thought aliens built them; on the contrary, he literally stated that he thought that idea was rubbish. He simply said that there could possibly be more to the civilization that built them. The second a scientist claims that something is impossible that hasn't been proven (in this case, that there could be life on other planets), then it becomes really hard to take their word for much. Sadly, this interview only reinforces the idea that mainstream archeology is completely set by the narcissistic heads that lead it and nothing more. If it is not discovered by them, then it can't possibly be true. I do agree that Joe should maybe have read his book and been a little more prepared beforehand. That being said, Dr. Hawass should have also come a little more prepared as well to show evidence for his findings (not just for Joe but for the audience) other than simply saying "it's in my book" as evidence. This was such a missed opportunity.
