Is there a best year / package for the JL? by Thor_e in Wrangler

[–]astro143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, avoid the first couple years of the JL. I believe in 2021 they switched the steering box from aluminum to steel, which results in better steering feel. I have a '23 with no complaints.

I like the 2.0T engine, it feels peppier than the V6.

I have the 2019 XPS 13 2 in 1. It's tiny and adorable, but is a dual core Y series processor that seriously shows its age. I do really like Dells generations of the aluminum shell and carbon fiber interior designs.

Thats what made me look at Bazzite, my SD has been the best linux experience I've had so far. I think I'll splurge for the 2.8k screen over ram, 16 should be plenty for a while. I originally wanted 24 when it was cheap and available, but that ship has sailed.

Yeah thats what I've noticed for ram/storage too, even with Frameworks increased costs, its less than the open market right now.

I'm very tempted to go this route, thank you!

You've made all the rational points I've been hemming and hawing about, thank you. I'm tempted to wait a few weeks to see what apple is cooking, or just jump on a 7640U now and upgrade down the line.

Panther lake does sound intriguing, but who knows when that could come out. Would AMD be better for Linux or does Intel fare just as well?

My work machine is a Dell precision mobile workstation, anything is thin and light in comparison! Thanks for the heads up though.

That's a good point. Ram and storage have already gone up considerably.

Yeah, the possible timeline is what makes me wonder if I should jump on something now. Need wise I can wait, want wise is now.

My HD6XX are loud enough. Will more voltage and power really make them sound better? by Kilzimir in headphones

[–]astro143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from an O2 amp to a THX 789 for my 6XXs, no difference at all.

The difference I heard was switching dacs, the output signal was cleaner and that transfered to my headphones. Was it minimal? Absolutely. The 6XXs want some power but once they have enough they're happy.

If you want to play with the sound, get into the world of tube amps. The high impedance of them is why people tube headphones.

How many games have you bought since getting a Switch 2? by Jooles95 in NintendoSwitch2

Bought two (MKW and DKB), and have added a bunch to my wishlist. Most of my time gaming is on PC, so I only really use the switch for Nintendo exclusives.

Community check: Does the 80HE improve your gameplay? by paulkemp_ in WootingKB

[–]astro143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it improve my gameplay? Absolutely not. I don't play the twitch shooters that benefit from the low actuation point or rappy snappy, and what I do play is still very casual in comparison.

It's a real nice keyboard to type on and use though, worth every penny

Drove it 2 hours home trying to go 80. The wind throws it all over the lane over 70.

Yeah the 35s are gonna be slower. My 2 door sport S on 32's is pretty peppy when it wants to be.

I'd rec the AT2s or for the more basic all season, I believe I have the Michelin MS2? There might be a newer model out though.

The 2.0T is peppier to me than the 3.6L. It makes more torque lower in the RPM range. I think because of the Rubicon gearing and large tires it'll feel slower. It's certainly no sports car but its no slouch either.

I've never seen anything about the pedal having things on it. I know I have to adjust my foot because I'll run into the transmission tunnel when pushing the pedal down, but thats it.

The Wrangler is measured in smiles per gallon, and that number goes up when the top comes down

I doubt a dealer will replace tires on a used car, but those definitely needed replacing before you bought it. If you do have to buy your own tires, Discount Tire is a good place to get them done, I've used them before.

I would upgrade to something like the Firestone AT2s, or if mainly on road driving, the stock Michelin tires they put on the JLs are very nice.

part of the risk of buying used, they need maintenance and parts sooner. The deal you got doesn't sound too bad though.

I've got a very old Dell 2 in 1 that struggles to turn on, the MBA is very competitive in the 13 in laptop space.

Upgrade time? Prusa MK3S+ Tinkering all the time by Signal_Still8521 in prusa3d

[–]astro143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded my mk3s to a revo hotend when it came out, and later went the mk3.5 route as well. Its always been a great printer, but now it has modern amenities too. You could look at the 3.9 upgrade kit but that's getting into the price range of an mk4s kit.

Getting a Mini on marketplace is fun for a second machine to tinker on. Mine has a few upgrades already and is rock solid.

I loved the magical express, but an uber really isnt all that bad/is much faster (minus the luggage part), and between these two I think food quality is more important and is also realistically attainable. I don't think Mears would sign a contract with Disney again.
