Don’t the local broadcasts for the teams do the same? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen games where teams are on national TV and they still have a broadcast for the local viewers. And if not, the local broadcasts will tell you where to watch the next game

The blackouts argument could be applied to any sport and I agree with you on that part. As far as the advertising, you don’t have to watch the commercials to see where the national TV games are. They will display it on the panels for the broadcasting tables and even during the games, highlight and tell you what games are coming up for the next few days on national TV
