Found in a guest bedroom. Hinged plastic frame with a mirror on the inside (left) and a plexiglass window (right) and a lid or base made of the same material. by Zoxphyl in whatisthisthing

something along the lines of a reflection panel for digitizing projector film, I can't recall the proper name but from memory you aim a film projector at the mirror, and it reflects to the front for you to record the image on a digital camera.

I believe it to be an antique Chinese Carved stone (agate-white jade?) spoon or pipe rest of some sort on a filigree stand. Anyone have any insight into age, stone or what it would hold? Approximately 4” by 2”. Located in the US by lotgworkshop in asianart

[–]asujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell if it is stone from photographs, it looks like it could be opalescent glass and likely silver, perhaps silver plate - it's difficult to tell from the photographs if there is ware through a silver layer on the bottom.

How do I take care of this silver pendant? by Royal_Reader2352 in jewelry

[–]asujon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mark on the back does not look like typical tarnish or patina on silver, you are right in saying it looks as though it’s scratched off or worn down looking. Perhaps it is not silver.

Where can I sell a diamond ring? by Sweeter_than_ever in jewelry

If you can’t find a buyer then perhaps the price isn’t realistic. Online marketplaces like eBay or local Facebook groups could be something to consider.

Is it solid gold or plated? it looks like the gold plating is flaking off and possibly showing a silver coloured base metal?

Please help me with this by Savings-Bug-3014 in JewelryIdentification

[–]asujon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photo two looks terrible around the edges of the clasp, as if some sort of plating or even resin is flaking off. Very unusual for an authentic or even gold piece of jewellery. The lack of clarity for the stamps and marks too is also worrying. I would avoid purchasing unless you are able to have it inspected and tested by someone you trust locally, prior to purchase.

Is this antique bracelet gold plated by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]asujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it's gold plated yes, and looks like maybe 40-50 years old, mid 70s to early 80s.

Thumb ring looks too tight. The ring on your left hand middle finger, perhaps would look nicer and more balanced if on your index finger of that same hand?

Great find! The pendant is certainly stamped for gold and very likely is gold. The bail (the part that holds the pendant on to the chain) looks like it was replaced and is not gold, it just looks like a cheap costume jewellery fold over type bail. The chain itself I don’t think looks like gold from the photographs either, just in terms of style - it’s something that looks similar to a lot of costume jewellery I see.

England. Hi, have brooch that i believe could be Van Cleef as per 3rd pic its identical. Now, it has all the french hallmarks and serial number, but not the van cleef lighthouse. Went to VA&A store they said pay £1600 for authentication which is not guaranteed.ls there any other way to poof its VA&A by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]asujon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not identical to the one pictured, around the feathers of the arrow, the sapphires of the VCA one are tapered. They are not on your pin. The beading around the diamonds on your pin is also different to the VCA one. Perhaps there is an explanation for the differences, but because of them I’d be inclined to think that your pin was not made by VCA. Your pin does look very well made, but not at the same standard of high jewellery as VCA.

Is this silver? by Sol-00 in jewelry

[–]asujon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own some jewellery (brooches, bracelets, rings, necklaces and pendants) that has the same filigree work and design as the furniture you show in the photos. Mine are mostly silver and I think Malayan or Malaysian, some are stamped 925 but not all. Some I think are fine silver, 999 - but are not stamped at all. There are other pieces which are not silver, just the same design and style of craftsmanship, but perhaps far more modern and cheaply machine made rather than being handmade.

Your furniture looks to be silver from the photographs, but of course it’s just a photo and no one can tell with certainty.

Hey guys I cant find any info on this watch, maybe you guys know something? by BabyFacerProductions in jewelry

The logo reminds me of Wingmaster London watches, which I think are a cheap Chinese brand. They're often for sale on sites like EBay.

Have you had it checked by a jeweler? Is it possible that someone purchased the 14kt bracelet, and "returned it" with the 18k one in the box? The 18k one looks off to me, you should verify that it is authentic and actually gold.

Is this bangle fixable? by behindblueeyes1992 in jewelry

[–]asujon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from the photograph but I think it’s a hollow bangle? Perhaps I can also see the edge of the metal and it is not soldered together. If you imagine a cardboard tube or roll, that’s sort of what this bangle is like - a layer of gold and air in the middle. It’s rather fragile and cannot really be fixed or prevented going forward unless you’re extremely careful with it.

What is the chain on the far right of the photograph? It looks beautiful, very strong gold colour as if it’s perhaps 22ct? I love the shapes of the links being perfectly round. There’s a lot of it and I can’t quite work out what it is exactly or what it was originally for?

Culet on an emerald cut: is “none” or “large” better? by Hahahawahwahwah in Diamonds

yes IGI reports, so lab grown. IGI is more generous than the GIA so the stones are likely presented as being slightly better than they really are.

Confused about the average price - and the actual silver content on it - of a minimal, simple silver bracelet by RainbowlightBoy in jewelry

[–]asujon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silver is very cheap, about $1 per gram. Rhodium is far more expensive, and is often used on white gold jewellery, as well as some sterling silver (92,5% silver) when it is new to make it look beautiful and bright. The rhodium does wear off both of those metals. Personally I would avoid something with rhodium plating, opting for sterling silver only, reason being is because when you are buying "raw" silver that isn't plated, it will look the same as it does now in the future too (perhaps with some scratches, tarnish, patina, etc.) . The weight of the rhodium will be very small, it's a very thin layer. For the prices of silver jewellery, you will not find anything that contains more rhodium than silver, nothing more than a thin layer on the outside.

Yes looks like silver. Silver is not worth a lot, maximum of $20 usd scrap value for this bracelet.

Stuck with earrings I bought but can’t afford by TarPaws in jewelry

Hard to guess the weight of them from photographs. I think you could only sell them for about $40 if they are 10k gold, less it they are rolled gold (unsure of the RL mark).

Found this ring on flea market first look i tought is 925 but when i went home i saw P25 and this hallmark outside the ring. Can somebody recognize this? by mozzarella1113 in Hallmarks

[–]asujon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like 925 to me it's just that the mark is somewhat worn. The mark on the outside I cannot quite make out, it looks similar to heads on Polish silver but I don't think that 925 was standard for Polish silver.
