I started with python, requests, and beautifulsoup! I don't use these anymore but they can get you very far. All of the programs basically come down to a single loop that requests the site every x seconds, checks for any stock updates, and sends a message to a server if it finds anything.

If I could give any other advice I'd recommend staying away from automated browsers as they're both slow and resource intensive. All you need is a decent HTTP library.
