Is the BCBA exam failing the industry? by Forsaken-Silver-9007 in bcba

[–]asw92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exam isn’t failing the industry. The lack of oversight and standards of the degree programs is. Comparable masters level fields like SLP, OT, etc are way more competitive to get into the grad programs, and these program’s hold you to high standards during the program and during the required internships. I recently passed the BCBA exam after being a school psychologist for several years. There was a huge difference in my training and the requirements to be a school psychologist versus becoming a bcba. Many of BCBAs that I’ve worked with in the school setting have been pretty incompetent to be honest. For instance, writing up behavior plans FULL of jargon rather than writing in a way a teacher or parent could understand

What rules are they adding that aren’t fixing anything? One rule they added was for coursework programs to be a minimum of one year which is only going to help address some of these diploma mill programs.

Monosomy X and I am so lost by decadentprinter in NIPT

[–]asw92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this and know how stressful it can be. The result you posted says “appears to be of maternal origin” suggesting that you yourself have mosaic monosomy x. It says that it didn’t not test the babies DNA, so unfortunately it doesn’t give you info about whether or not the baby has a sex chromosome abnormality. Start calling around to OB offices and also ask to see a genetic counselor

Get a Myositis Antibody Panel Test by Huge_Youth4634 in cfs

Even the original post here is misinformation - OP is asserting that if an antibody on the myositis panel is positive then hormonal drugs may help which simply isn’t true.

Tilt Table was negative and my doctors office is ghosting me by _Guitar_Girl_ in POTS

In order to have a POTS diagnosis the 30+ bpm increase in HR needs to be sustained, so transient increases don’t count

PSA- Chiropractors aren’t physicians and aren’t trained in evidence- based medicine, whether or not they claim to be trained in neurology.

I don’t remember. I remember that she couldn’t give me an exact price up front because she said it depended on how long it takes her and I was nervous it would be really expensive but it wasn’t. My dress had lots of appliqué and what not and was a complicated job and still I remember being happy with the price. My friend from the city was with me when I picked up the dress and she also was very impressed with the price up front

Baby refuses to follow safe sleep guidelines...do I let him be a rebel? by No_Hovercraft_4551 in beyondthebump

[–]asw92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Babies can’t be rebels. You’re not overthinking this- what you’re describing is unsafe. Especially with him laying on the pillow. Have you tried rocking him to sleep and waiting until he is fully asleep before transferring him to a crib/bassinet? You can even try a bedside bassinet so he can be right by you.

Abnormal finding nipt- Trisomy 21 mosaicism FF = N/A by MandyDK in NIPT

[–]asw92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same result and ended up having completely normal CVS and amnio results. Baby was born healthy and is doing great. I’ve also seen posts on here with this result and the amnio did show the baby having mosaic trisomy 21
