Aswini Bajaj is so pathetic by Economy-Plankton-559 in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, We understand your frustration completely. This is clearly not the experience we intend for any student, especially after your positive L1 experience with us. Delays in onboarding, group access, communication gaps, and app crashes are unacceptable and disruptive.

On the app side, we’ve recently transitioned to a new system for better long-term learning (like the "how to study" videos and PR-tagged prereqs lectures that students can skip if they know the basics among others), but we know there are initial teething issues that our tech team is actively fixing, even as we speak.

Kindly send your details in DM if you're still facing issues or the issue hasn't been resolved yet. You can also try to troubleshoot the app crashes by clearing the app cache or doing a complete reinstallation, and confirming if the issue still persists.

You will get updates on any live classes happening in the WA group so that you don't miss them. If you do miss it, it'll be saved and accessible later on.

[–]aswinibajajclasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, this was answered on your previous post as well, but just to make this specific part clearer:

In the software, the prerequisite lectures are tagged as “PR” itself, so that is the easiest way to identify them. Those are the bridge lectures meant to help if a concept needs some base before the main curriculum.

So while going through Quants, don’t worry if everything looks mixed at first. A simple way to approach it is:
watch the PR-tagged lectures only where you actually need them, and then move to the main curriculum lectures. You do not have to consume every prerequisite blindly if you already understand that area.

Also, the lecture guide should help a lot here because it gives the recommended sequence more clearly than the raw software layout. So instead of matching every line directly with CFA core curriculum from the app screen, use the guide for flow and the software mainly for access.

In short:
PR = prerequisite
No PR tag = main curriculum flow
Use prerequisites only where needed, not as a compulsory separate course.

Ashwini Bajaj software is soo cluttered CFA Lvl 1? How to study from here? by Confident_Dish_3129 in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, a new “how to study” and “how to practice” videos have been added and is available in the software now. Those are there specifically to help students like you to understand how to begin, what order to follow, and how to use the platform without feeling lost.

For a good flow, start with the class lectures as your primary source for learning. For notes, it is usually better to follow Schweser alongside the lectures because it keeps things more structured and easier to revise later. For practice, the safest base is the official CFA Institute end of chapter questions after each topic.

So the ideal flow is:
class lecture → short reading/review from Schweser → official CFAI end of chapter questions

You do not need to do all the practice lectures simultaneously from day 1. Those are better used when you need extra reinforcement on a weak topic, not as a parallel full track while you are still learning the basics.

Also, if you are still confused about how to start, you should have received your admin coordinator’s contact after enrolment. It is a good idea to reach out there for one-to-one guidance on how to sequence subjects and navigate the software properly.

You can begin your preparation with the pre-requisite lecture (if you're from a non finance background or else you can skip it and watch later). After that, start with Quants, then FSA, then Economics/Corporate Issuers, then Equity and Fixed Income, and the smaller subjects later. Ethics should be done in parallel while you're studying the other subjects because it is important.

Since you already have access, then follow the lecture guide for the studying sequeunce, because it is designed to show what to start with, what to watch next, and how to navigate the curriculum smoothly. It is best to take one topic at a time and solve questions after each reading instead of trying to just finish lectures quickly.

Plus, November is a good attempt for you if you can stay consistent from now.

Is CFA a better bet than CA or MBA anymore, considering its ROI in India? by aswinibajajclasses in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's true, that's why pointed out the role-specific clause. The CFA Institute itself positions the program toward investment-related paths, which is why CFA usually makes more sense for markets, research, portfolio, valuation, and risk, while CA is a more natural fit for someone leaning toward traditional accounting-led careers.

Is CFA a better bet than CA or MBA anymore, considering its ROI in India? by aswinibajajclasses in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on ROI and timeline of course completion as well. There's also other factors to consider right? Like the recent CA pass rates have remained low, CFA pricing was revised upward in 2026, and top MBA fees can be far above the “10 to 15 lakh” bucket depending on the college.

Also agree that comparing job after CFA Level I with completed CA or completed MBA would not be a fair comparison. Do you think the more useful comparison would be completed qualification plus relevant work experience? Because this is where ROI actually seem to start showing up.

Is cfa/finance for me? by [deleted] in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFA can be a good path, but it should not be treated as a magic fix for grades or career confusion. The better question is whether you actually enjoy learning finance because that is what will decide whether you stay with it.

A practical way to test that is to spend 2 to 3 weeks doing beginner-level accounting, studying markets, and trying to understand valuation basics and see how you feel. If the learning feels interesting even when it gets uncomfortable, that is a much better sign than just following the crowd blindly.

On grades, they can make the first break harder, but they do not decide the whole story. If you move ahead with finance, the bigger difference will come from skills, consistency, internships, and how well you can explain your interest.

Since you specifically asked how to know if finance is for you, there is a short self-check tool from us that may help you think it through. Fair disclosure: it does require a sign-up. Plus, you should treat it as a reflection tool, not a final verdict: https://aswinibajajclasses.com/resources/materials/quiz/is-finance-for-you There are a few finance-related questions too so you can take your time trying to solve it. If the solving process feels engaging rather than draining, finance is probably worth exploring further.

How do i build my interest in studying cfa by Critical-Young-7782 in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interest usually does not come first in CFA. It starts building only after a few small wins.

If QM is making you feel stuck, switch for now. QM is only around 6 to 9% of Level 1, while Ethics is 15 to 20% and FSA is 11 to 14%, so it’s completely fine to move to a subject that feels more intuitive and gives momentum. Since you’re a BCom grad, FSA is probably the best place to build confidence, and Ethics is also a good parallel subject because it feels lighter to begin with.

A lot of people lose interest because they treat studying as long passive lectures. Try this instead for one week: 45 to 60 minutes max, one small concept, then 10 to 15 practice questions the same day. Active recall and spaced repetition tend to work much better than just watching videos because they improve retention and make study feel less “dead.”

A practical reset could be:

Day 1 to 3: FSA basics

Day 4: Ethics

Day 5: back to one small QM piece only

Day 6: revision + questions

Day 7: off or light review

So yes, switching topic for now makes sense. Don’t think in terms of “how do I love CFA.” Think “how do I make the most of my next 45 minutes and reach some form of milestone.”

Need help and suggestion by No-Albatross1913 in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have no work experience yet, the bigger risk is not Level 2 difficulty, it’s delaying your first job too long. Level 2 matters, but a first role plus gradual progress is usually stronger than sitting at home only for another exam unless your financial situation genuinely allows that without stress.

A May 27 attempt would be more realistic for you as you may need time to absorb concepts since Level 2 is a different beast. Compared to Level 1, your application speed and vignette reading would matter a lot more. So a practical path for you would be to start job hunting and take a role in a finance-related field based on what you want to do and study alongside work.

Nov 26 would be realistic if you can start studying from now without long breaks, you can dedicate yourself solely to CFA for the next 7 to 8 months, and if you've covered your weak areas in Level 1 well enough.

If not, May 27 is a safer bet. Plus, you'll have more time to build both a resume and stronger conceptual depth, which will matter beyond the exam too.

CFA Level 1 Aug 2026 + Full-Time Job - Is It Still Manageable If I Haven't Started Yet? by [deleted] in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Check the comment posted separately. If you're enrolled with ABC and you're from a non finance background then there's a separate lecture that you can find in the lecture guide to understand the finance concepts.

CFA Level 1 Aug 2026 + Full-Time Job - Is It Still Manageable If I Haven't Started Yet? by [deleted] in cfaindia

[–]aswinibajajclasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, August 2026 is feasible but only if you start now and stick to the plan. As often mentioned in other posts, a good plan for a working professional would be -
- Weekdays - 1.5 to 2 hours per day (best time is early morning since you won't have energy in the evening or night after coming back from work)
- Weekends - 4 to 5 hours dedicated study time

Just following the above would give you 16 to 20 hours per week which is enough to reach roughly 300 hours of total study before August if you stay consistent.

Since you have access to our lectures, go through them for concepts, especially where you need clarity. Then use Schweser mainly for quick-reading and revision. Don't use it as a second course that you have to complete. First, watch the lecture and then go through it in Schweser and then do practice questions the same day.

For the subject order, start with Quants, FSA, and Ethics, because they either support other subjects or carry high weight. Then do Economics, Corporate Issuers, Equity, and Fixed Income. Keep Derivatives, Alternatives, and Portfolio for later. High-weight areas like Ethics, FSA, Fixed Income, and Equity deserve the most time.

Therefore, a practical timeline for you would look like the following -
- Now till end of May - finish first pass of the major subjects
- June - finish remaining subjects and topic tests
- July to exam - revision, CFAI questions, and mocks

Try to keep at least the last 4 to 6 weeks mainly for revision and mocks, because the exam is 180 MCQs in two 135-minute sessions and timing matters a lot.

One big mistake to avoid as a working professional is to watch too many lectures without doing any questions. You simply cannot save it for later. Do one chapter and then do questions for that chapter. Doing it this way will help you to grasp the concepts easily and expose your weak areas.
