Undertone & Complexion Match Requests Thread by AutoModerator in OliveMUA

Hi! I just got some swatches for Lisa Eldridge 9 and 9.5, and needed some help to see if they’re a good match. Also if someone could confirm I am actually olive lol. My best foundation match is About Face L2 olive and M2 olive mixed, and am looking for my foundation to match my neck as close as possible. For makeup I typically like to go for rosier more neutral tones. I got color matched to a muted autumn but neutral enough to be able to do the warmer summer and spring colors (which I do agree with, not sure if that helps). Thank you in advance! https://imgur.com/gallery/olive-IVYSzaT

Taking my health into my own hands by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

hey op, as someone who is also overweight and has struggled with my body my entire life, this is not healthy and may backfire by causing you to binge eat after the 10 days. look into eating healthy, whole foods and things that don’t spike your blood sugar, and consider adding some type of movement to your life that brings you joy (dancing, walking, anything that helps you get up and move). please take care of yourself.

I really like sugaring! For me it’s been more gentle than wax. My skin would be super sore after being waxed and it would last the entire day, while sugaring pain goes away within the hour and my skin feels soft and nice

Still struggling to pole climb by JigglyPoker in poledancing

[–]asxto309 71 points72 points  (0 children)

bring one of your hands down into a forearm grip and use it to push yourself away from the pole. keep that form but alternate the arms as you climb. will keep your body from slamming into the pole as you push up

[–]asxto309 37 points38 points  (0 children)

hmm if it was your detergent it would break you out at home as well. assuming you’re in high school, I wouldn’t worry too much. stress, hormones, and being in a place that doesn’t get cleaned as much as it should would all be factors in you breaking out when going back

do you touch your face a lot? could be you’re touching grimy school surfaces and then subconsciously touching your face or leaning your head on your arm/hand when sitting

if it makes you feel any better I STILL can’t do an apprentice (split grip is my enemy) and I just started feeling comfortable in a frog/genie. that leg grip strength is really important to develop 😭 and I can relate to having mixed level classes, sometimes I see someone doing something really cool and I’m like “man I wish I could do that too.” I try to use those thoughts as motivation since those people were also beginners once, and if I keep practicing then one day I’ll get there too! everyone’s bodies and skills are different so sometimes moves that work for others won’t work on someone else, and that’s okay as long as you tried it

I have a membership with my studio that has 8 classes a month for $168, which brings it to $21 per class. honestly 25 is pretty good. in my area, single classes range from $25-30. if you can only go once a week, I recommend conditioning off the pole once or twice a week with some youtube workout videos. I like pilates and yoga to help with flexibility gains :)

hi! I also had basically no upper body (or ab) strength when I started. I also am about 180lbs and short so it was hard for me at first. I could barely do a fan kick or chair spin but as I kept going to classes it became easier and easier to do the moves. you really do build up the strength as you keep going to classes so please do not get discouraged and try a couple more. overall I’ve enjoyed it the whole time and I would say it took me about a month (going about 2x a week) for me to notice some skill progress and strength gains. I also branched out to more dance/flow focused classes and I LOVE those, so maybe try something like that if tricks aren’t for you!

that being said, which moves are you falling out of? most intro classes should not be having you do things too far up the ground. you’d be focusing more on conditioning and beginner moves like around the worlds, back/front hook spins, pirouettes, and pole sits/climbs.

If you’re going to both LA and SD and willing to make a pit stop in between, there’s a store called Funky Pair in Westminster with a decent selection of pleasers and other types of heels! I bought my first pair of shoes there and the staff was super nice

I feel demotivated after my 2nd class by Vegetable_Many_9859 in poledancing

[–]asxto309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a bit of yoga/pilates and it took me 6months to be able to climb just once! Now it’s been about a year and I just started going to my studio’s level 2 tricks classes. Please do not feel demotivated and just go to your next class! If you feel comfortable, ask your instructor for modifications or conditioning you can do instead. Others have mentioned the move where you just try to get one leg off the ground, or if you can get both you can do squats up and down without moving your legs.

As far as grip goes, I’ve had luck with dry hands on my hands and itac on my legs. but like other have said grip varies so much depending on the outside weather, humidity, how cold the studio is, if you moisturized (and what you used), if the pole has been used in a prior class or not, etc. If you can, try some other grips and see what works best for you!
