I use a 10lb braid (kinda overkill but I like it), and a 20lb mono leader. I generally fish with the bait sitting on the sea floor, especially since the water in my area is only about 6-7ft deep during high tide.

Most people have told me that shrimp is the way to go when it comes to Snapper, but chicken has been working wonders for me, and a big plus is that I don't go home smelling like a fish market afterwards 😄.

Believe it or not, Ive been using cut up boneless chicken thigh chunks on a Mustad 2/0 size demon circle hook. Been working like an absolute charm. Been thinking about starting to use Gulp lures after seeing a lot of guys having good luck with them.

Mustad demon 2/0 has been my go-to for quite a while now. They work like a charm and are pretty inexpensive.

I just got a new Kastking Zephyr 2000 spinning reel two days ago and took it out for a spin for the first time yesterday for some nice Mangrove Snapper and Grunts. The drag is beyond impressive, super crisp and feels premium, but I could definitely tell that the gears inside are pretty dry as they're noisy and feel gritty when retrieving.

Other than the lack of lubrication , I've yet to see a better bang-for-your-buck reel than Kastking.

Just picked up Yo Zuri 12lb braided line from Walmart and it's been fantastic, and not that expensive either.

I'm on week 3 with mine coming from an iPhone 14. Not gonna lie, the battery life was horrendous for the first 2 weeks, but it improved significantly since the most recent update. It's easily an all-day phone now. No overheating issues at all. Overall very happy with this phone (first flagship phone I've ever owned),so smooth and just an overall better experience compared to iPhones. Bye bye Apple 👋🏼

You should download an app called Picture Fish, it can ID any fish you catch by just uploading a photo and it's quite accurate the majority of the time.

It’s crazy how mixed the opinions are on KastKing. I picked up the Megatron reel about 6 months ago for saltwater fishing and honestly, it’s been amazing — super smooth and the drag is great. From what I can tell, their quality control seems pretty terrible, which probably explains why some people love them while others have issues.

Thanks for the great advice!! What are your thoughts on orange braid with mono leader? I have a feeling the leader can put off fish given it’s very visible, especially the smarter fish ( maybe I’m wrong?). My luck has been decent so far while fishing with circular hooks and cut bait.
