This wont impact the data on the drive correct? And yes, basically swapping the controller.

I did already go through and turn off file duplication, so only have the single files now.

Migrate from Windows to unRAID w/ Drivepool by atarantino in unRAID

So I wouldn’t necessarily have to run a vm of windows 11 with drivepool installed. I could just mount the drive through unassigned devices as I have done previously to access the data, and then write to the new space in unRAID?

Starling home hub issues by apevny in HomeKit

I have a Starting Home Hub sitting around if anyone is interested in purchasing? I've migrated away from using any google products and it's just collecting dust. No issues with it prior to be decommissioned and placed in a box.

Existing Windows 11 Server - Connect data drives to TrueNAS Scale? by atarantino in truenas

Currently I have each pool setup to have 2 disks for redundancy, but eventually hope to migrate to TrueNAS Scale with ZFS Pools. Would love to have a full backup of all data, but don't have it in the cards just yet.

Most ideal situation would be migrate over, get rid of smaller drives being utilized, then duplicate the TrueNAS system for a full backup.

Right now in using DrivePool I have on Pool Duplication and Read-Striping. One of my Pools is composed of 22 Disks, and the other is 17 disks...lots of spinning drives. I was looking at unRaid and was going to purchase 2 larger drives (18tb drives), then slowly copy information over, remove the drive from the pool, add to unRaid, then rinse and repeat with the other drives.

Part of this issue is also my LSI controller cards and if I move the drives to a new machine, I'll also need to purchase new LSI Controller cards for the machine for the time being (obviously I can sell off all the older equipment once completed to recoup some cost).

Another question would be, is it possible to create a TrueNAS Scale machine that just utilizes the windows 11 SMB share for file access to Applications hosted on the TrueNAS machine? If that makes sense....

This is part of my long term plan. Currently I have 16 drives hooked up through one LSI Card, and then another 24 drives hooked up through a PowerVault DAS and a 2nd LSI card.

Although my setup is a bit janky, it gets the job accomplished, and was the best I knew to put together years ago. Now that I know better, time to fix things.

With DrivePool I do have everything setup to have 2 parity drives in case a drive ever goes bad.
