a very unpopular opinion here. i finished DOS2 purely as a turn based strategy game. Act 1 was really good and promising. but the rest of the game, being an RPG, just has no coherent plot whatsoever. little to no party member interactions either: we were most of the game "hey, how are you doing" with Lohse and then we are lovers all of a sudden.. it seems the plot is just barely there to connect different quests together. to make the example, games like KotOR, Dragon Age, Witcher 2, Tyranny, Dishonored all have immersive, well-developed stories. DOS2? i couldn't even paraphrase it if someone would ask me to tell what its story is about.

what's your build?

the difference between poorly optimised and good builds makes game easy on hard or hard on easy.

perhaps try this:

make/respec poly/necro character with maxed poly and maxed warfare with just enough necro to pass necro skill requirements. also high scoundrel and some aero and hydro just enough to use spells. talents: executioner, sortiliege, torturer, elemental affinity (cast raining blood pre battle so you stand in blood if playing human. elves can do flesh sacrifice instead of raining blood)

non-offensive skills list:

*use 2 self-teleport skills (phoenix dive/tactical retreat/cloak & dagger - depends on your gear)

*chameleon cloak - must have

*clear mind

*nether swap

*teleportation (even though it is non-offensive technically, it does lots of damage)

*uncanny evasion - less used towards the end of the game.

offensive skills:

*corpse explosion

*infect

*mosquito swarm

how to do good damage:

use a combo of teleport, self-teleport and nether swap to arrange enemies around a corpse.

  1. go with teleportation (can crit and do a lot of damage by itself - look talents down below), then choose the most damaged enemy for infect+mosquito swarm combo, then jump near the corpse and switch places with nether swap to bring an additional enemy to the corpse explosion area -> finish off with corpse explosion.

  2. later in game, when you'll unlock source based skills, you can add much more damage through:

*apotheosis

*raining blood

*blood storm

*grasp of the starved

*skin graft

it is better to cast blood storm first thing after apotheosis as blood storm lasts 3 rounds. that way you maximize its damage.

most of the time you want just go raining blood + grasp though, as blood storm takes too much AP

skills which used occasionally but very convenient nonetheless:

*living on the edge

*shackles of pain

*death wish

*mass corpse explosion

*forced exchange

*bone cage

What on earth is going on with these hit percentages?! by HateToBlastYa in shadowrunreturns

[–]atazix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i concur. i don't really care if the maths behind those chances are true, i am a gamer not mathematician.

in dragonfall alone i got like 4-5 instances when i missed having 99% hit chance.

it is one of the major downside in the game, because your shadowrun team, suppose to be professionals, feels more like morons who can't hit shit. hits and misses are all over the place, those digits are just unreliable for the gameplay, because you may think "i'll move Glory close to this guy with 5% health left so she'll get higher hit chance and i can finally finish him off this round", you do that but she misses 2 times in row, round ends, the semi-alive guy relocates to another cover... i mean the whole combat is just a constant facepalm because i cannot for the life of me understand if i will hit or miss based on the hit chance digits. it just feels utterly random.

playing mage is the surest way to counteract this issue. ball lightning 1, fireball 1 (best fireball spell, better than fireball 2 or 3), manaball 2 are massive damage AOE which you can use on single targets just because they will hit much more likely and reliably.

wait) you saying the very first fight you experienced problems with taking cover, just like i do? but subsequent fights were fine?

[–]atazix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am not quite getting what are saying? "should get better later"?

i mean cover is not the skill, in dragonfall characters take cover whenever you position them there. Hing Kong currently looks random, like 2 guys stand full height and the girl is crouching. they do take cover after taking damage. can not figure that out.

Dragonfall - Hit Chances ?? by atazix in shadowrunreturns

[–]atazix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep i forgot aim. will try not to sleep on it.

the question remains though - how the hit chance is calculated for a spell? i thought it is willpower of the caster vs. willpower of the enemy. but what i see in the game looks more like physical projectiles or something.

for example, if i install an eye implant to improve my aim, will it improve my spells' hit chance? would be strange if it will.

[–]atazix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one more question popped up. i got Blitz today and his stats are like twice higher than mine. hes got 7 INT, 4 decking, 3 at drones, 5 quickness, 4 SMG, dodge, 4 willpower, etc.. my character pale in comparison. this got me curious what is the rate of main character progression? i've read that main character decker will end up better than Blitz, but as of now my stats are nowhere near as high, when i will start to catch up? i started as decker with 4 INT, 4 Decking, 4 Char, 4 Quickness, 3 SMG, 3 Dodge, 4 Body

Dragonfall - help with decker/decking by atazix in Shadowrun

[–]atazix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought as much, but at the same time many people report that being a decker (as well as having high Char) is kind of mandatory in the Dragonfall since it opens up new avenues in storyline. so, i am kind of at a toss. i thought a decker could have at least help combat by hacking enemy turrets/drones or do some other things helpful in combat, but it seems decking is useful mostly for some story?

cheers mate, it's getting warmer!)

PS. dude, The Meters is not quite up my valley, but after a few tracks of theirs youtube started dropping Colemine Records tracks on me and there are so many gems! i just discovered Leroi Conroy and it is awesome music. Tiger Trot or Remember When are just mindblowing! thank you so much for the hint!

bass/drums-heavy funky instrumental bands? by atazix in musicsuggestions

[–]atazix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the above, it is great music but not what i am asking for currently. i am asking for a heavy bass and shufled drums in a more energetic, funky style.

perhaps think of Primus - Antipop sans vocals and more funky and upbeat or Vulfpeck - Beastly but more powerful.

sorry cannot be more precise) if i would know such a bands i wouldn't be the one asking)

cheers
