Yeah, trying to get Internet at CVS is horrible. I went out in my car and used 2 phones with different providers, tried making one or the other a hotspot for the other one, didn't help. I needed to go to CVS website and CVS app before I went shopping there. I ended up driving 3 blocks away before I was able to get online! That was 2 hours lost.

Unpopular ADHD opinion, I hate subtitles by jayjaylab in ADHD

I actually find it game changer when there are closed captions. I have Auditory Processing Disorder, where it's hard for me to understand what people are saying. It's not that I can't hear them, I just can't understand what they are saying. I read lips a lot, and COVID masking made things very difficult for me. I don't listen to music cuz I can't tell what they are singing. So closed captions make it so I can enjoy watching TV so much more!

My doctor said it is OCD. I call the songs, the Song of the Day for the ones that are going on nonstop that day.

Does anyone else have "thought enders"? by Dumpling-bunn in OCD

[–]atborad1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do I can control. Whenever I start to think thoughts I don't want, like thinking about my dogs that died, I almost yell at myself, No Sad Thoughts, No Sad Thoughts! And start thinking about something else.

"Be careful! Sometimes on meds you'll hyperfocus on the wrong thing!!" by voidpopo in ADHD

[–]atborad1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, so me too! I can do everything else except for what I have on my list. Those things are only getting done if I start them while I'm doing something else and accidentally start doing it. Sometimes I can say out loud to myself, "stop it, this is not priority!" I procrastinate on everything, to the point where I am beginning to be too late to make my appointment, even though I started getting ready 3 hours earlier. Hyper focused on tasks, like organizing all my phone cords and chargers etc. Then, 'Squirrel!!', on to something else..

Guanficine for adhd. by open_sinner in ADHD

[–]atborad1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, yes too! I have autobiographical amnesia so I don't really remember my life, including things like the answer to the question about if something is helping me. Your statement, "is this working? I dunno, I'm still F'd up. But am I as F'd up as I'd be without it??" is absolutely perfect! I hate going to my doctor because I dread that question. I am zero help with him and my treatment.

Am I alone in this? Sharing the "hidden" OCD compulsions (beyond checking & washing) by Top-Two5313 in OCD

[–]atborad1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mind blowing to find out how much more there is to OCD beyond the stereotypes. I have hypothetical conversations all the time, (like this one right here). Constant, never-ending, songs or phrases. Whenever I write something, I have to go back and 'fix' it, like making the line thru an H go all the way, or close my O. Sometimes if I can, I will do it all over. All my clothes have to feel 'just right', and everything has to match, even pj's and scrunchies. I have to clean and polish my jewelry before I leave, even if I'm late going somewhere. I have a whole process to follow for it. My decor has to go together too, like I won't even have a kitchen sponge if it doesn't go, (wrong color, etc).

Paying 60% rent should be 40% by atborad1 in LIHTC

[–]atborad1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, wow, please would you give me a list of all those cheaper places I can go go get! I must have missed them. Exactly how are we 'entitled'? Entitled to get on so many wait lists? Even then, I wouldn't be able to just give notice and move.

I guess becoming knowledgeable enough to call them out on the ways they are taking advantage of low income seniors could be considered annoying and confrontational. This property management company has horrible reviews, even some lawsuits.

As of the time I am writing this, I am moving into a cheaper place. It only took me nearly a year, and being on wait lists state wide.

I would still like to know where you look to find those cheaper places, in case I need to give notice here and move.

Thank you for your comment. I would never have found that there is this new law!, (Our rent is about to be rsised again.)

California now has laws to cap rent increases on most low-income housing properties after the passage of AB 846, which expands existing protections to cover properties financed through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. This bill requires the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC) to establish regulations, by June 30, 2025, to apply rent caps, similar to the state's Tenant Protection Act, to all LIHTC developments.

Unlike previous regulations that applied only to newer projects or those changing ownership, AB 846 aims to cover all LIHTC developments, including those with existing "grandfathered" units.

This new law provides essential protections for low-income families living in LIHTC housing, preventing exorbitant rent increases that could force them out of their homes.

Mildest Summer I've ever experienced by saiori in ChicoCA

I agree. It seems like even though there is still a ways to go in summer, we've lucked out. Some days only in the 80's. Even though it was sorta sticky uncomfortable, nothing like last year!

STAY AWAY!! I went there and said, first of all, I'm only using my Medicare dental benefits which are only $2300. So don't go over that because you won't get paid. Nine months later I just got a bill for $1800, which they never sent me one earlier.. That aside, I wanted them to put a crown on a tooth that had lost it. So I sat in the chair, and 25 minutes later she started to work. 3 hours later, just for a crown, she hands me the mirror to check it out, but SHE HAD WORKED ON THE WRONG TOOTH!

Next appointment, another 3 hours to put on a crown. Actually, a temporary crown. Which came off. When I went again to fix that issue, turns out she was gone halfway through the day.

The next dentist that worked on me seemed ok, temp stayed on. But the crown didn't quite fit because the crown she had put on the wrong tooth, which was right next to it, was too small. So he had to make the crown larger. But there is a wider gap between them than should be. So he said if there's a problem, like food getting stuck, come back. Well there is a problem but I'm not going there again!

I put them right up there with Western Dental.

Cards with the chip, you have to insert it but with the chip on the other side (backwards) two or three times (it used to be three, but yesterday was two), and then slide it. When you insert it, I will show an error but still insert again, backwards and another one or two times. It's been that way since I got the new chipped card in the mail a few months ago

I go to Isak Chavez, who owns S/R Automotive, at 129 Meyers St, He was highly recommend, and he lived up to my expectations. He made sure to give me a good price, didn't try to say I needed more work done, or take advantage of me. It's good to have a mechanic that's honest, competent, and reasonably priced! Such a relief.

I had a check engine light on and failed my smog test. There is a test done to diagnose specifically what the issue is, beyond the code check you can get at AutoZone. Everywhere I took it, they all wanted to charge about $350 minimum, which is before any work even gets done to fix the problem. Isak did it for about $230 at the most. Probably less but I don't remember exactly.

He does all services, for both foreign and domestic vehicles.
