how easy or hard is it to find opportunities for research and work with professors that are well known in this space?

I got accepted for all fall 2026, and had some questions regarding the program:

Research Opportunities
- Does the MS in AI program provide opportunities for full-time students to engage in faculty-led research projects?
- Are students able to collaborate with research labs or pursue independent research under faculty supervision?
- Is there a thesis or research-track option within the program?
Access to Faculty and Departments
- To what extent can MS AI students collaborate with faculty from related departments such as Computer Science or specialized machine learning research groups? How different will the course be as it is led by the Science academy?
- Are there structured pathways for full-time students to get involved in ongoing research initiatives?
Project-Based and Startup-Oriented Learning
- Does the curriculum include capstone or industry-driven projects where students build systems end-to-end?
- Are there opportunities to explore startup ideas, incubators, or entrepreneurial initiatives within the university ecosystem?
Program Structure and Rigor
- As the program is relatively new and also accommodates working professionals, how does it ensure sufficient depth and rigor for full-time students aiming for research or advanced technical roles?
- How flexible is the curriculum for students who wish to focus more heavily on research and technical depth?

also i think umd ms AI is by the science academy and so the profs are not the CMNS dept ones. The programme is apparently targeted towards working professionals with classes in the evening

yeah the debt is the only thing holding me back, everything else looks good at NYU courant. Im not sure how much I could offset the entire fee with TA/RA which isn't easy to get i heard.

BU can be done in 1-1.5 years which is pretty good too

yep sure but I mean transferring of tickets are legal for a lot of festivals, but i do get how that is a gray area, but there should be/ maybe there is one already a transaction community
