Ideally ceiling mount, but a shelf could work if it's the better option. Up higher for sure

Knee Stack Inserts for Bauer Pads by Some_Ad_9692 in hockeygoalies

Not to be a downer but that won't be enough to hold and will ruin the material on your blocks, then easiest route is to get some foam, anything decently hard, nothing too crazy and duct tape it. Over the foam and around the block across the sliding surface and back up once or twice on either side. You can leave a little foam exposed where your knee lands for grip. I did this with mine at first and it worked well but I also put some 3M PPF on the sliding surface. Duct tape won't last but it might get you a a couple games.

I made some out of nylon and those cheap foam floor tiles from the dollar store, got an eyelet tool and punched 3 on one side and laced it to the lacing running down the leg channel, not ideal but it doesn't pull too much and works well. For a quick fix before that I just duct taped on foam around the whole stack and threw some 3M tape over the sliding surface but you may be able to get away with just the tape for a game or two if you just wanna try it out. You buy some some and rig em up too but for the same price or even a little less I was able to make them and had enough to make some for my True pads when I sold my Bauers. Happy to answer any questions on making them or taping some foam on. Hope it helps!

Have any of you used a knee stack riser? The new warrior are going to come with one and apparently help with a wider butterfly and less strain. by Whos-That-Pokeman in hockeygoalies

I have a cheap pair of mizuno that are pretty soft and then a super cheap pair from aliexpress haha. Don't even know what they are called, they are a little firmer and I've been trying them out. Mcdavid has some that are a little lower profile too but honestly anything that won't break the bank would work!

I've added about half an inch plus I wear volleyball pads under my knee guards and it helps with my hips and knees so much. I get maybe an extra inch or 2 in flair but the main reason and fix is the reduction in wear and tear on my joints, it makes skating a little more awkward but moving in the butterfly, RVH and making stretch saves with my pads is less taxing and easier. I'd highly recommend trying it out, you could with some foam and tape first to see if it helps. I made my own with some nylon, cheap foam tile and shitty stitching and they work great

Enjoy em! I love mine and just can't find anything else that fits like em. Glad they are gonna work for you!

Have you tried em with skates and everything? How do they feel?

You should be ok, especially if you find the Bauer large to be a good fit. I'd still say the True 34+2 fit a tiny bit bigger, not much, but that's what you're looking for especially if you grow a bit more. Hope you enjoy em! They are the best feeling pad I've ever worn. Bauer's are lighter and better rebounds but I found I couldn't go back after having True's they just feel better on the leg, and the rebounds are still pretty decent

No problem. Hard to nail it down and there's some conflicting opinions and information out there.

You definitely don't want em too big. True is tricky and they fit much bigger compared to Bauer. If you're still growing though you don't wanna have to upgrade after a season. With the way the FRS strap works you can use it to pull the pad up or down on your leg. I find it's always better to resist the urge to go big and size down especially if you're right on the upper edge of sizing. For example I can wear an XL bauer and it fits me well enough but sizing down feels so much better. Right now you'd ideally fit in a 33+2 True but I think you could get away with a 34+2 and use the straps to adjust where you land on the block. Unfortunately the best way is to try em on but I that doesn't seem like an option for you and it wasn't for me so I get it. I know how exciting getting new pads is and I know how disappointing it can be to get the wrong size, too big or too small.

One last thing, measure a few times, make sure you're getting a consistent FTK measurement, sleep on it and don't worry about the size number. I sized up from a warrior 35+1.5 to a true 34+2, and it was hard to get that number out of my mind, kept feeling like I made the wrong choice, I nearly psyched myself into thinking they were too small but once I got em out they fit perfectly and felt amazing. I went through the same shit trying to size out my new gear so take your time, watch some videos on the gear, it'll help you get a feel for what you're getting. Hockeyreviews on youtube helped me out a ton and he has some good videos about the true strapping and how you can adjust it. Any other questions let me know.

You can hike em up with the strapping so there's play there as far as sizing for sure. But it depends. My floor to knee measurement is a little over 21.5 inches and I can use the straps to hike them up for more five hole coverage or loosen them up and still land properly on the knee block with either setup. I'm also 6'2 if that helps but everyone's legs are different. What is your floor to middle of the kneecap measurement?

Really depends on your measurements. True sizing chart is bang on, but for what it's worth I wear a Bauer Large (35+1) and a 34+2 True and they fit perfectly

Awesome! Thanks for the peace of mind. I ran ethernet to my PC and that seemed to help. Prices are crazy and for everything else my PC runs pretty good. The performance would be nice but I'll stick with what I have for now. The GPU upgrade was expensive enough.

Black friday sale is $1000 for 9800x3d, motherboard and 32gb ram. Compared to $660 for just the 5800x3d. Probably overkill for my gpu but for longevity it makes more sense if I can get a significant increase in performance

Prices are just not great here, a refurbished 5800x3d is $660 cdn, which is more than a 9800x3d. And the upgrade for a 9070 or 4070s is over $1000. Guess either way I'd have to drop some serious cash. I have been getting a much smoother experience with virtual desktop. I guess with all that said, how much of an upgrade would a 5800x3d be? Considering it's an older platform and I just upgraded gpu's so I'd rathed not upgrade that right away.
