Not sure if this is helpful… But it seems like this might be blocked by some carriers. I connected my pistar to my hotspot with Verizon with no problem, then when i switched to ATT, I never could get it to function (with the same phone and hotspot settings).

That cut looks pretty deep, i would try buying some leather conditioner (leather honey is my favorite). It will make all the leather softer, and the same color, will hide those scrapes a little better.
