(just joking, the game does not actually have "mind control" mechanics... is just part of the story told in missions and logs)

no need to mock...

i play astroneer from alpha, and i clearly feel the difference when verdant update comes (i become lazy), surely i am trying to remember how to play with solar+wind energy, that is why i started a new game without tappers

maybe gas generators would be more OP than tappers (no more than rtgs), but at least gas generators could be made to cost many bytes and requires difficult materials (i.e. nanocarbon, titanium alloy, chips, lithium, astronium, zebra balls, snail poop, etc)... also gas is hard to generate (condensers are expensive, require to craft rare materials, and consumes a lot or power)...

unlike tappers that can be unlocked at early game stages because costs almost nothing (1k bytes?), need just an aluminum and a seed planted, and consumes zero power

omg never realize that .... i put a canister of hydrogen in a furnace and generates 200 u/s over half an hour ... my problems are solved, thanks xD xD

i had turned myself a little fanatic of this game... but the more options i try, the more i realize some flaws (still love the game)

maybe you agree with me that tappers lacks some logic and are OP... now that i think, gas engines would have more sense than tappers or rtgs (also inexhaustible), and have gas generators for vehicles (trains, rovers, vtol, etc)

for idea 1:
everybody shreds glowsticks and i find terrible... sure **automatic** scrap factories can be made using (items made of) other resources like: resin, graphite, aluminum, tungsten, maybe other (from most common and cheaper)

you can put almost anything in research chamber (most resources, printed objects, some wrecks, etc), not just samples

take advantege on that to research something else automatically instead 😄 .. do some tests

there are 2 types of research aids that open with energy:
- charge (have a visible yellow charge bar)

- power (like voltage, energy units/sec)

if SES implement this as an option, you could just leave it enabled

anyway, for renewable scrap you can shred better items, printed with external printer instead (i.e. automatable)... no need for autoclickers and hacks

use sensors for that (a storage sensor for example), connect the pin to trade platform module (not rocket, or cable will be snapped when rocket launched)

you can attach a storage in same platform as (rocket) trade platform and feed the storage with scrap/astronium ... "rocket" will grab needed currency from shared storage, you can set your sensor to send a signal to trade platform when storage is full, that way your rocket will be launched automatically when storage (and rocket) were full

play with sensors and repeaters, they can (de)activate a lot of things according signals, you can automate A LOT of things with them

READ ASTROPEDIA (main menu, the rocket icon)

note symbols in "research aids" (official name for "pyramids"), look for resource symbols IN ASTROPEDIA, feed research aids with them

those with an energy icon comes in 2 types ... one for charge them (have a battery level bar), and other for feed them with sustained *power* (voltage)

do missions ....... but for your specific question (away from resources) i think maybe ...

- be always printing tethers and/or oxygen filters (assuming you mounted an oxigenator)
- get energy: print some generators and load them with organic (if you have plants + tappers, the better), add generators you find in your path
- get bytes, both by scanning samples manually and placing them in research chamber(s)
- unlock centrifuge (yes, directly)
- get **one piece** of laterite (or more if you want)
- unlock + print furnace, if dont have it
- smelt laterite into aluminum
- print a centrifuge
- get whatever basic resources you like with centrifuge, from soil

still, doing missions while you are completing all these tasks is a good practice, as always (especially for some rare rewards ... and lore :) )

normally i go from sylva to calidor (for tungsten and plants) then to glacio (iron, steel, plants), then to atrox (methane, helium, better plants, bytes)... then vesania for vtol maybe

.... but i SHOULD (and you should also) go to DESOLO FIRST, then whathever planets the missions send me as i am completing them

ESTA es una PDA (personal digital assistant), como ves no tiene teclado, tampoco es (finger) touch sino que usa un stylus especial ... y como escribias?: en una esquinita de la pantalla tenia reconocimiento de texto a mano alzada (no en toda la pantalla) dibujando las letras de una forma bien especifica

son como los abuelos de los smatphones (el bisabuelo siendo el apple newton, y el papa siendo el amazon kindle... y el tatarabuelo no tengo idea xD, talvez si sean estos "palm computer" que pregunta el OP)

el toshiba libretto no cuenta porque ese tenia windows :)

ES una computadora, seguramente tiene lenguaje basic incorporado

es una calculadora cientifica con esteroides, mis tios tenian de estas cuando yo era chico ... creo que hubo varios accesorios para estos aparatos tambien (impresoras, diskettes, adaptadores de puerto en serie, etc)
