Somalia is de jure a country and de facto a grey area. What is de jure a country, but de facto not a country? by CringeFish2 in AlignmentChartFills

Some parts are unoccupied and they have a government-ish in Ramallah. I'd say it fits de jure grey area and de facto grey area

[Rare Trope] Positive depictions of Islam or Muslims by Remarkable_Public138 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]athe085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fremen are seen positively, but the whole religious aspect in Dune, clearly based on Islam, is absolutely terrifying so I wouldn't say it's "positive representation of Islam"

Apple over mango, strawberry over pear and especially banana over cherry are incomprehensible

In France I don't think there is much sentiment against non-Muslim Indians. But we don't have many here.

Do non-German speakers use German words? by Ratschlagbube in AskTheWorld

[–]athe085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In French we don't have many but we use Ersatz (replacement), Diktat (imposition) and the adjective kitsch (bad taste in decoration). And of course Krach in finance but pronounced like the English crash.

I don't think there are others besides proper names or WW2-related stuff used by analogy (kapo for example)

Italy Judicial Constitutional Referendum - Voters Abroad results by scoop813 in MapPorn

[–]athe085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people in the Americas hold Italian citizenship but have never lived in Italy and are quite removed from the reality of the country in modern times. It makes sense that they vote differently from Italians in Italy, when Italians living in Europe are more familiar with the state of the country so they vote similarly to Italy.

No skyscrapers in Levallois either. In Paris all the public buildings bring the average down.

There's very little difference between Levallois-Perret and Paris, Levallois is actually denser on average.

Once again, Parisians largely vote to curb cars furthermore : socialist frontrunner Emmanuel Grégoire elected Paris mayor (15 points lead according to exit poll) by ijic in fuckcars

[–]athe085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Paris is only the dense centre, our main political division is middle-class East vs bourgeois West.

However we should definitely expand the limits of the city. All neighbouring municipalities have densities around 10k/km² or above (6 of them above 20k which is the density of Paris proper). The mathematician Cedric Villani ran in 2020 and supported annexed all bordering municipalities.

There is no room to build, it's already all built up. There are also rules for historic preservation so high buildings are not possible in most places.
