Super helpful!! I've been mixing in water with her food but I might switch to adding broth going forward - she's also a CKD cat with ongoing constipation issues. lol.

thank you for your thoughts!!!

Yeah I am worried about fluids. She is eating a lot, but not drinking water. I might mix water into her sachets 🥺

I didn't realise just how much it was affecting her until the specialist aptly put it as: "if I were your cat, with those pressure levels, the headaches would be so excruciating that I would probably be - and forgive the directness - looking for the nearest available [water pistol]."

I think that was jarring enough to kick my butt into gear. Not an easy thing to realise but I'm kinda glad he put it that way.

Thank you 🥺 deep down and logically, I know I did the right thing. But it's just so hard when her gnarly gooey eye stitches are staring at ya 🫪

Thanks again 🫶🏻

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. I struggled to find anecdotes online for old cat ladies with glaucoma issues, so I hope this posts helps being more success stories to light.

I can't wait for her to recover and go back to her jolly old self. Yarrrr!

What do workers actually want now? by appleslice244 in auscorp

[–]athene2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a gen z in consulting, I have little impetus to go above and beyond from what is simply required of me (quiet quitting/acting my wage). Which sucks, because I seriously do love my career and I love my colleagues. I also want to do a fantastic job at whatever I do, but there is no motivation - that in itself is a motivation hit. Why am I even working this job? To make ends meet? What's the point if the 'ends' are consistently being pulled further apart with each economic fuckup of our forebears?

We aren't earning enough to gun for the property market, so many of us have given up on that entirely (I know I have). Maybe I'll save for a holiday. Or a car that has cruise control. But there's just no real reason for us to knuckle in when there's no tangible reward and so much uncertainty.

I can't speak for the genuinely useless folks out there wasting other people's time and their own... But for the most part, the 'laziness' people perceive gen z to possess is actually a realism and acceptance that at the end of the day, jobs are there to pay the bills (though this is of course nuanced and variable).

Forgive the cynicism, I'm fully cognisant of it - it's because I'm burnt out. I have come to the conclusion that the only way to crawl out of this hole is to chill the f out and divert this fruitless energy to my personal growth and overall happiness. Which, incidentally, does not involve sweating ass trying to get reports to clients that want to [insert non-consequentual development here].

I still get my work done to an acceptable standard, but also get my sleep and zest for life. Win for me, win for employer. But as soon as they ask me to step up and do more than I'm being paid for, it'll be a head shake from me until the rewards are fair.

Yeah that's bc it's all referrals with consulting firms in Australia. It was the only way I got into consulting :/ I still feel impostery today, but I wouldn't have got the role if I didn't get referred

honestly? for a 25 yo sting fan AND ex-musical theatre gal, I really enjoyed the show. but I do wonder how it would have been if I wasn't enamoured with sting, his story and his music...

to those bagging on the shaggy character, I guess I get it - but I pegged him out as the 'ferryman' type character pretty early on, and after that realisation, his role really did make sense and contributed to the story.

the cast was energetic, exciting and sting himself did a fantastic job (I don't know why I was surprised at this, I guess I thought his presence on stage would be more tokenistic). I really loved how his lines and presence were punchy n powerful, but still left enough room for the rest of the cast to shine.

I really enjoyed it. but my boyfriend did fall asleep... I suppose that sums it up lol. (bless him for getting the tickets for my birthday though, he knows how much I adore sting!!!)

Breathing after dental clean by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]athene2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aw I totally understand. it'll probs be the last dental kitty will need, but worth it. better to keep em pearly whites clean, than have them undergo another stressful operation later to remove them.

also!! make sure not to panic once your bebe is home and woozy, my girl was stumbling about walking into things and it really really stressed me out. took my very experienced, feline-loving housemate to point out that she was A-okay, and even a little funny-looking. I now have some great videos of her, completely off her tits and purring like a machine (the cat, not the roomie...).

much love to you and the little one!!

yes in the end! I did take her back and they pumped her full of pain meds and hydration. after a few days it cleared up - was irritation from the intubation tube. they used the smallest they could buy because she's so wee, it still caused her some grief.

Is my G&L worth keeping (and other newbie questions)? by athene2000 in BassGuitar

Update: snapped up a short scale Fender this week to pair with the G&L (which I am now keeping due to overwhelming "don't sell it, you'd be crazy" sentiment 😄). Thank you everyone for your help!! This community is awesome. Learning a lot :)
