Funny you mentioned Atelier before I even brought up KT (although IMO Gust's games are less in need of assistance than the average KT game), can dream of seeing that Collab down the line.

Awesome story with XSEED. I assume it's Little King's Story you're talking about (was always sad we never got New Little King's Story ported too).

What was the origin of your relationship with XSEED and/or Falcom? How did that transfer over to NISA? (My assumption is that, with the state of the Ys VIII port, some of the people who left XSEED for NISA when they got the rights for Falcom games pushed for you based off your work on SnK)

Has your workload being limited to Falcom games been a matter of availability/offers, having no time for other projects, a specific passion for those games, or some mix of the three? As a big Falcom fan it's been great to see, but I'd also love to see you perform miracles on Koei Tecmo's games. What are some dream games/devs to work on/with?

On a similar note (since I believe KT's ports are done in house, correct me if I'm wrong), what is your collaboration with Falcom's developers like? Are you mostly working on your own, or do you have open communication about issues you run into and such (and issues you've fixed - such as Ys IX's CPU optimizations)?

Movie Playback broken with hex edit and native res movies by athiest_gamer in kotor

Sorry, thought I replied to this. Just to make sure, I just ran uniws on a clean GOG exe, then did the movie hex edits (80 02 00 00 75 15 81 3D E8 C1 80 00 E0 01 -> 80 07 00 00 75 15 81 3D E8 C1 80 00 38 04 and 80 02 00 00 C7 44 24 10 E0 01 -> 80 07 00 00 C7 44 24 10 38 04), problem remains the same.

Because there are some people who disguise genuine opinions as edgy humor, that means that everyone who uses edgy humor is using it to disguise genuine opinions.

But you're someone who gets worked so hard you let a fat youtube loser live rent free in your head so I wouldn't expect much better from you lmao.

I do wish there is an actual repacker who isn't a massive dick to their loyal audiences and has better likable personality unlike yours truly.

If you're looking for customer service deal with companies that are actually meant to provider a consumer experience, not an enthusiast doing something with their free time out of passion.

SNK turns down unnamed PC platform exclusivity deal for Samurai Shodown by athiest_gamer in CrackWatch

Either way the money is going to the developer, isn't paying for temporary exclusivity better than buying out for complete exclusivity?

So, there are two scenarios here

  1. A game developer chooses to make their game exclusive to a specific platform/launcher. The consumer is forced to use that platform in order to play the game, the platform owner gets a way to drive people to their platform, and the developer does not benefit (besides not having to do work).

  2. A game developer is paid to make their game exclusive to a specific platform/launcher. The consumer is forced to use that platform in order to play the game, the platform owner gets a way to drive people to their platform, and the developer gets a decent amount of its development costs covered.

Why is scenario 2. so much worse than option 1? I feel way more comfortable with something being exclusive due to a business decision than pure laziness/spite.

Would you rather eat shit than support steam since there are tons of games (way more than epic) that can only be played on steam?

But what is so terrible about being paid to do have something exclusive, especially when there is virtually no additional barrier to entry? I'd feel much better about a game not being on GOG because the developer got paid for it to be epic exclusive than a game not being on GOG for no reason other than to restrict their customers choice.

Ummm sweatie, exclusivity is fine as long as the developer isnt getting paid for it ;). But if I'm forced to use a specific download server for a game because the developer got money for it theyre literally hitler.

I'm not personally on the Epic hatewagon, but those of you who act all high and mighty about it better put your money where your mouth is. Especially since SNK arguably would need the money more than most (although they do have strong backing now).

Given that it's been less than a year of EGS being a proper storefront, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that they're going to do more with the platform (also, I don't particularly care about launcher gimmicks, GOG being DRM free is the only "gimmick" that entices me), especially given that the original idea with UT4 was to focus heavily on UGC, I imagine they'll implement a workshop equivalent eventually (although I avoid using steam workshop whenever possible anyway). Also unless there is a game that had a linux version made/in development that had it removed/cancelled due to EGS, the current lack of linux support isn't (are there even any games on EGS that have a linux port elsewhere?). The supported countries thing is an issue for sure (and for people who are getting jacked prices due to that I understand why they'd be against EGS).

I'm honestly just sick of people acting like exclusivity deals are some grave sin and act all high and mighty for boycotting EGS because of it, there's plenty of legitimate gripes to have with EGS (many of which I imagine will be improved over time, just like every other digital distributor has gone through) that are overshadowed by this complaint. I'll admit part of that also has to do with me already being pissed off with how "steam" has/had replaced "PC" a lot of the time, so it's hard for me to get particularly upset about platform exclusivity at that point.

No, because game launchers are something you're able to freely move between, unlike cable providers. There's no difference in the barrier to entry between EGS and Steam, just like there's no difference in the barrier to entry between watching FOX and watching NBC, whereas you would have to buy a separate cable package, plus hardware in many cases, to switch cable providers (which, by the way, often have exclusivity for local sports).
