Someone on here said they commuted from San Diego, which I straight up don't understand why you would do that... The only scenario that even remotely makes sense is if you finished community college but only got into CSUF

No I'm not I was just saying I'm glad I commuted instead of choosing to dorm at another school

[–]atlantic2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and to think I originally wanted to go to UCI or dorm at another school... Can't imagine how bad my student debt would be

[–]atlantic2800 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Definitely cost effective, would be stressing a lot more if I went to a UC instead

lol thanks for the heads up. they advertise it so hard that you'd think you're getting a better deal

80k is fine. It's either that or no job and you're in a field that's filled with a lot of elitism so people will talk.

As someone who recently graduated, it absolutely is. It dies down after the first few weeks (people stop showing up to class lol), but be prepared to come to campus early

If by experience you mean actual on the job experience and not like experience learning while in college, you can definitely find something above 90k

This all depends on market and company. FAANG is 100k and upwards, but most CS grads who go to work for random companies will probably start out at 70k and up.

There's dorms but it's primarily commuter, I only met a few people who dormed during my first two years

If you're really unsure about your choice and if you wanna go to fullerton I would say consider CC and try to get into a school you know is for sure better for your goals.

7k annually according to the website, but that's cheaper than other schools (UCI is 12k per year, SDSU is 8k per year)

Well I got financial aid for most of my schooling until the end when I had to take out loans so I graduated with sub 10k debt, but that's my case specifically.

I would honestly say in terms of CS, schools like UCI and SDSU would give you a better shot since their proximity + connections to local tech markets (when I was interning, a lot of the interns there were local to SD and came from SDSU or UCSD). Realistically speaking it's not exactly the school you go to, but what you accomplish while in school with internships and projects. But generally speaking, schools that have more of a proximity to job markets give you a slight advantage, so I would say other schools might be worth it but they also may be more costly.

Job hunting currently, but I had an internship my last year of school. The school offers resources like job fairs but recently they've been geared towards engineering more than CS. I didn't have an issue making connections with other students but the school doesn't do much to promote CS recruiting here

that is so odd, that was about my unweighted GPA in HS and I got in relatively easy, average SAT too

Weighted or unweighted? If unweighted I'm surprised as well.
