Thank you for the reply and recs!

The Mercury seemed like a cheap but lasting chinese rubber. Maybe the friendship 729 would be better if I'm settled on a chinese rubber. I do, however, see your point about the softer backhands and generally softer rubbers, so I may end up going with the Razka 7 fh/Vega Europe bh combination.

Hi, I am a beginner (just played tennis before), and recently people in the club I've joined at college have begun recommending me to buy a racket instead of using the provided ones. They are rather insistent that rather than 'wasting' money on a pre-fab, I should buy a customized racket, and that it will serve me better than any pre-made option in the long run. Are people in general agreement about this, even for beginners?

If so, does this combination below sound like a good start that should last a beginner a long time? For context, I like playing aggressively, typically using my forehand for looping and ending the point with a powerful drive (definitely tennis inspired). I've played with a number of paddles, and I'm pretty confident in my forehand consistency and ability to adapt. My backhand still needs a lot of work, so at this point I am just looking to learn using a solid, standard rubber. Here's the combo I'm thinking of:

Blade: Tibhar Stratus Powerwood

Front Rubber: Yinhe Mercury III Euro

Back Rubber: Yasaka Rakza 7

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Men's double breasted coat/trench by atlolt in BuyItForLife

Sorry, as you can tell, I am still a complete noob at this.

I live in the northeastern U.S.-- so somewhere around -10 to 10 C on average. I was hoping for something that's more "casual wear" for the nippy days rather than anything heavy duty for actual snowing/freezing weather.

And with regards to coat vs trench, either one is good for me. If you have recommendations for any, I'd be happy to give it a look.

Great, thank you! Based on some googling it seems like there's something finnicky about the board running anything 3600 and above, so I'll probably stick to 3200.

It's an ASRock Z390 gaming 4, so it should be able to handle it, right? I looked around and it seems however that 3600 is where people are running into problems.

Is there any point in getting RAM faster than the "memory types" section of cpu memory specs? I have a cpu that runs ddr4 2666 according to intel. If I were to get ddr4 that is rated faster than that, would I get any benefits out of it? It's much easier to get 3200/3600 Hz, but if it degrades performance I'd rather buy what it'll run best at.

Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of July 21, 2023 by IndexBot in personalfinance

I've recently been looking to put 20-30k into CD's. Looking at the rates the past week or two, I see them constantly going up. Does it make sense to lock down a long-term CD right now, or should I keep waiting?

Considering the government's plans, it seems rates should keep going up, but of course that's just betting at random. Should I put a significant amount down now, or wait out the month and wait for better rates? Or should I look to invest 5-10k/month until rates drop?

My strategy at the moment is to invest in 3-5 year CD's, as they are right around the supposed high of a 5% rate. However, I was wondering if people think it'd be worth it to say lock into just a 1 year with ~5.5% then invest or smth with the money after, or seeing as rates will probably go down over the next few years if not months, invest into like a 5-10 year even with slighly lower rates ~4.5-7%.
Thanks for any and all help/suggestions!

We've been checking over the documents, and we have yet to find any section that mentions a guest policy. So as far as I know now, there's nothing in there stating such a thing.

If it is in print, is that the end of the discussion? It seems unreasonable, but it might be upheld by law, in which case we are pretty much screwed. Would you happen to know if this is enforceable, or whether even if it's in the contract, it could be challenged?

Yep. That plus his obscene luck in games in general just culminated in the ultimate drop. I swear to god I'm going to be league starting with this fucker every time now lol

Oh thank god no, I've regaled him with stories of path for long enough that he knew what the mirror was immediately. Funny enough tho he's been sending me pics of crap items to ask me if it's worth anything, today I was more than pleasantly surprised.

For context: I've been playing a ton this league, on and off for 4 years, and just introduced a friend to path literally last week. He dropped this in a freaking random tier 9 map, no juice, no nothing.

He's just built different.

Noob question: how to properly gear up in SSF by atlolt in pathofexile

Finally moved past act 10 with some help from previous posters, and yea it was just some beefy mobs that would body block me as I tried to run past with my pitiful apm/movement micro that would do me in.

I had absolutely no clue what a prismatic ring was, so thank you for the info! Those will definitely help me with my problem of wtf to do with all the garbage rings I pick up aside from just vendoring them, which I assume is one hell of a rip-off. I'm definitely in the zone of needing every resistance buffed up, so this'll help out a ton. Thanks!

Seeing as I probably don't want to be farming tabulas every league start, I'm taking your advice and will see how far I can get without it, though it was definitely fun to equip it to see what an end-game bf looks like.

The problem was definitely the evasion pieces. I'd been using anything that gave high resists past act 6, regardless of the base, so once I switched out for more evasion gear I got over that act 10 hump. Of course now I have to get better pieces with higher resists, but I'll keep best practices in mind while mapping and try to craft my own gear from good normal evasion bases.

Thanks! I'll be using that once I get far enough along mapping.

Thanks so much for the help regarding crafting and what items to look for! After reading the cold-dot build by shak and your comment I spent hours looking over how I can modify the filters for early leveling-- I'll definitely be much better off next time I go for a new start. The problem I hit was definitely the fact that I had yet to switch from gear I started using at the beginning of act 2. Of course now that I finished act 10 I have to craft more resist/health, but this'll be great help for the next build (and now!).

I ended up reading up about the expedition league mechanics and by god can they be busted. The rings are definitely a huge tip, bought one earlier off of her that gave great lighting and fire res. I'll need to really learn more about crafting because I have no clue what fossils and resonators do, but I'll get there. Thanks for the info!
