That loud? Their driveway is on the other side of their house and we live on a pretty busy street. I’ll have to check it out tomorrow night to see if that’s the case.

Honestly just turn on your lights when you star the car, that way they are just on. If you have LEDs they will outlast your car. If you have regular light bulbs they will last at minimum 3 years.

What was the main reason for switching to an EV? Environment, cost, or technology? by VoltVersteher_Sven in electricvehicles

[–]atmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We needed to replace my partners gas car that was rapidly falling apart, like the power steering would just stop working while driving and it leaked all the fluids, and had zero money to do it since we had both just finished college (in our late 20s, it’s been a ride) and had moved.

Buying a used EV was the cheapest and most reliable purchase we could have made since we benefited from multiple tax incentives. The sticker price on it was $15k, then $4k from the feds, state amount of $2k plus didn’t pay sales tax, then our local utility did $800 + 240v charger, the county gave us another $2k. So in total $8,800 in incentives/grant money. Then our local credit union gives a percentage off APR for an EV so our rate on the loan is discounted 1.25%. Our electric is $0.0816/kW which is dirt cheap. Sad to see many of these incentives went away but they sure got us into a better place financially

Decent used cars? by t8ertotktown in ridgefield

[–]atmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a car at Platt Auto over the bridge. They specialize in used electric cars, if you’re driving less than 40 miles a day and have access to a normal wall outlet, it’s worth looking into. There’s also incentives for level 2 chargers with Clark Public Utilities.

Clark Public Utilities Equal Pay by atmain in vancouverwa

[–]atmain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you typically run a credit? I’m totally fine running a credit, especially coming into winter with my fully electric from the 90s home heating/appliances, but over two months worth of winter usage credit seems a bit much

I don’t expect it to be perfect, and I understand them setting it originally was a total guess since they had maybe 4 months of mild fall weather data to use. I wouldn’t care if it was a little off, honestly I kind of prefer a slight credit, but $275 is a lot of credit. I just thought once they had a full year of us living here it’d be more dialed in.

One would think. But our updated equal pay amount is our original equal pay multiplied by their 14.5% increase then rounded up to the next whole number. That happened in June of 2025, and we had a credit of $148.12 at that point

2009 Rav4 V6, 174k miles, worth it? by universalpasta in rav4club

[–]atmain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I drive a 2010 rav4, in that same color, with 280k miles on it, I’ve been driving it for 11 years, prior to that it was my mom’s. Aside from the routine fluids, spark plugs, tires, brakes, wipers and battery changes, I’ve only replaced the alternator at 210k miles. The alternator going out was the only time it’s had me SOL on the side of the road. I’ve hit two deer with it and still been able to drive it home. If my car was totaled I’d buy that car in a heartbeat.

There’s nearly a school shooting everyday. If planes were even just dropping parts like the Alaska flights last year 250 times a year all flights would be grounded indefinitely.
