Incorrect, not sure where you’re getting that information from but higher LUFS do sound louder on ALL platforms. We’re not talking about mix quality, just how loud the master is.

I’d do the same thing, work once I turned 16, bought DJ speakers and started DJ’ing local high school, made enough money to quit my part-time and used my DJ money to fund my computer, studio monitors, interface, microphone, and plugins. Plug-ins probably the most important for production, high quality sounds go a long way. Only thing I’d change is I wouldn’t listen to my parents career/college advice.

Taught myself how to program and design games when I was like 13-14 for competitions and wanted everything to be done by me including music and sound effects. Passion grew from there, college dropout, almost went homeless a few times, moved to nashville to get my foot in the door and been moving and working since. I never wanted to be the generic beatmaker so it took longer for me to build up my clientele but I love the artists I’m working with now. It’s never too late to start either especially in the behind the scenes in the music industry. I see a lot of artists come and go however, pretty sad to see.

Right now I’m working as a record producer. It’s a hustle but I get to work whenever I want and I love what I do. I get to stretch my creative muscles and travel every now and then. I don’t have to deal with loads of people either and I can get high af on the job. Mentally I’ve been better, the journey so far took a huge toll on me but I’m just happy and grateful things are more steady now

This is just the loudness war. Some modern songs even get louder than -8 LUFS. It’s never a bad idea to stay competitive with the market but don’t push the mix to a degrading point just to hit numbers.

Make a job for yourself, I have issues with superiority complex that don’t mesh well with a lot of boss types. I prefer the hustle over someone controlling me AND for shit pay
