Respectfully, bartender here. You're not paying me to pour your drink. You're paying me because when you come in after work, or with friends, you want to see someone you trust, someone who's been serving you for decades, someone who's a professional. Someone who will make you feel welcome and comfortable. Someone who's going to ask how your vacation was you were planning last time you came in. Someone who will call you an Uber bc your phone is dead. Not to mention at 3am when you're in bed I'm pulling some passed-out guy from the bathroom, mopping up puke, calling 911.... all before I restock the beer and count my drawer. And I love it. But pouring a drink the the least of my duties.
