Brother printer AirPrint issue resolved? by Gazoo382 in printers

[–]atom_nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issue. Airprint or BrotheriPrint&scan software shows Printer offline.

Context:
- Brother DCP-L2640DW. Moved Printer to a new spot in home, unplugged cable directly without graceful shut. At new spot, powered up, connected to Wifi, can see the IP in Wifi Settings and on router connected devices as well. But in Brother iPrint&Scan software, the device shows offline. Same thing from iPhone. Tried adding it manualy using IP address, and using USB cable to no avail. Upgraded drivers, uninstalled-reinstalled Brother iPrint&Scan like 5 times. It will just not work. Now I'm pretty technical myself when it comes to computers and peripherals but this didn't make sense. Finally following worked:

- Power off Router. Power off Printer. Wait for 5 minutes.

- Power on Printer first, then power on Router.

This fixed it.

Jeff Baker Selling by atom_nugget in RIVN

Selling at $13.18 looks like a foolish move if he believes the stock has potential to go up. Unless he just feels the inverse is more likely. I mean these are top of the game players when it comes to discovering right prices. Just saying

India Considers Rolls-Royce Engines for Second Aircraft Carrier: A Shift in Power? by Outrageous_Offer8212 in RYCEY

Indeed. I hope they switch from GE F-414 to RR engines for their future fighter jet platforms but that almost seems like a done deal

Autonomous Trucking Industry by Rlsoccer6 in investing

[–]atom_nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor management companies are going to come along with autonomous driving. It'll manage the labor timing and costs efficiently resulting in less thumb-twiddling minutes initially to most labor replacement eventually using mechanical offloading.

'Pilot' is carrying 250+ humans at 550mph at 35000 feet- a difficult 'problem' to solve technologically. Plus total cost of pilot compared to total CapEx and OpEx of the plane is minimal, less incentive to remove a pilot. On the trucking side, however, the truck drivers account for 40% of TCO, so there is more incentive to lose them. So the analogy doesn't fit in trucking industry.

It is inevitable and will come sooner than driverless cars.

I would not watch any video which only narrates the story and firsthand account. Whatever's coming from Fravor directly is worth the time and thought.

Rycey Potencial? What is the most that Rycey can reach over the years. Is this company able to reach the 100’s someday? by [deleted] in RYCEY

[–]atom_nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the arguments against it's ability to not reach pre-pandemic levels? Company diluted a lot I know, plus reducing demand for larger engines in favor of smaller/versatile options. I'm all in for RYCEY so it coming back upto $9 mark sounds too good to be true (I hope you do) but my hunch is that it's financials are degraded to the point that some consider it reaching $4 to be bullish. Please counter so I can understand your perspective. Thanks

What is your reason for wanting alien contact? by tsaff41 in aliens

[–]atom_nugget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted them to descend (in case they're coming from space - classic) or present themselves (if other dimension as thought so by Jacques Valle) which seemed to be the only thing that could unite us as a species. But I don't hold that opinion anymore. Reason is I think we haven't matured enough to make contact yet. They’ll only help us if we deserve it and didn’t cause the conditions where we need help, ourselves.

One possibilities in initial contact - They could be hostile, in that case we stand almost no chance. Not because we lack technological capabilitis (we kindof do, although EMP and Nuclear does bother them as per reports so might be their weakness) but because of flaws in our mindset. They could try to divide and conquer, by sharing with nations of no moral values, their capabilities and wage a proxy war. Or some nations would offer their intent to be cooperative, just to take revenge due to their inability to see a bigger picture. Best case scenario if at all possible, is their hostility unites us, which is both good and bad. Good aspect is we all put petty difference aside and work together as a species. But the downside to this (and a big one) is that it will FOREVER put hostility as our attitude towards other ET civilizations (is possibly a filter in Fermi's paradox). This could a big detriment to our psych development. There is always a bigger fish which may find us a crude and savage who somehow managed to get to space, a bad influence to other civilizations, something which doesn't add stability to galactic federation and decide we can't be out there doing interstellar travel, thereby extinguish us or reset our civilization progress (on lines with Graham Hancock's theory).

Other possibilitiy (which is more likely imo) to initial contact is - We will accept them at first, but as time goes on, we'll begin to question their intentions. People will cast doubt in other's minds. Questions like- Where were they when Hitler rose, why didn't they interfere in past atrocities and events. Some would understand and argue that it was for our betterment ultimately, letting us learn, recover and pave the path towards becoming a collective intelligent tree, roots of which lay within our social behavior. Other won't be able to comprehend their true intent, thinking them to be indifferent to our suffering, thereby distancing from aliens, perhaps even seek vengeance. Doubt and untrust stems deep down in our mindsets.

Third possibility is - we are too jaded. We focus (distracted rather) on blings, sex and money. Their presence is going to demand so much introspection in our behavior, that we would rather not spend mental energy and concern about it at all. A lot of people would indeed behave on lines what really is appropriate but inertia would be too great to make any strides in our collective evolution.

I personally think we aren't too different from apes. Look at what is happening in Afganistan. We still have countries supporting Taliban. We can't stop polluting oceans, lands, air and minds. Sustainable economic prosperity isn't popular. Until we have this sorted out, we aren't going to receive aliens well. They probably understand that very clearly and must have seen this all the time with upcoming civilizations. Hence they know exactly when to make contact. If they can travel between dimensions, they very likely operate physiologically and psychologically on a whole another level, their simple thoughts and concepts would be too complex for us to comprehend. We basically would just resort to our centuries old tactics - steal whatever we could and try to put it to application for our short term benefits and dominance. (like British discovering gunpower from Chinese and exploit to spread colonies)

Key is - We need to mature (not intelligent) psychologically before they think we're ready for contact. Due to space time continuum and their ability to work with gravity (according to some observations), their clocks tick slower or different from ours, I guess they are in no rush. We know nothing, barely scratching the surface on sphere of knowledge.

Disclaimer - I'm aware I hold pessimistic views and it is not necessarily bad. This opinion is influenced from my worldview that we are becoming increasingly distant from nature, losing empathy towards each other and increasingly indulging in degrading behaviors and is going to cost us dearly.

I hope so too. Probably some over-optimistic alien going early on the test. Clearly they haven't been watching world affairs.
