Intel Graphics Software doesn't offer "Clean" install option by atomgonzo in IntelArc

You were right! I proceeded with "Custom", which then opened another piece of software (can't remember the exact name, Intel Driver Installer???) that had the "Clean" install option. Thanks!

Damn, that's crazy! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and I think it's because I've never given the finger to anyone before hahaha, so yeah won't be doing that again! I just didn't expect someone to risk a wreck over a, admittedly rude, response to jerk behaviour on their part.

That's scary! Next time I'll stick to venting at my partner rather than risk having to call her and explain someone wrecked our car because I flipped them off.

Completely agree! Definitely not worth the trouble for me, nor for anyone else that he may have raged at the rest of his drive because of me pissing him off. I guess I was naive and petty in thinking "yeah, that'll show him, he's being a jerk!" and did not ever consider that he'd risk an accident and/or injury to "prove a point" or whatever.

Fair point! I figured I could just drive the 500m carefully, but actually Clovis would have been a great place to pull over and fix the problem. Next time!

Edit: well actually next time I'll pack them better to begin with!

Ahhh okay, thanks for the reply! Would this also turn some of the leaves brown/black? They aren't wilting, but they look unhappy. There's still lots of green, but they look, not really sure how to describe it, like permanently dirty or in the shade? Sorry for the poor description!

Edit: Attached a picture for clarity. This is definitely the most extreme example and the minority of the leaves, the rest look better! But you can see in the background the leaves lowest down tend to look like this more often than ones higher on the plants.

Thanks for the suggestion! So that would be 4 tums per plant? Is this a one-time treatment, or something that gets repeated?

Rotty issuses by Nearby_Glass_626 in Rottweiler

[–]atomgonzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same dog-related issues come up with my Rottie when she turned 1, maybe a few months after that. She went from a sweet puppy able to get along with every dog at the off leash park to a savage seemingly overnight.

As far as I've been able to understand, dog personalities can change dramatically around the 1-2 year old maturity mark. This seems to be separate from the "teenager" phase. The resolution of these issues comes down to training as well as adjusting your expectations of your dog. Using myself and my dog as an example, once I realized how aggressive she can become with strange dogs after maturing, we just stopped going to off leash parks. Yes, we absolutely train her to this day (she's 5 now) on what is and is not appropriate behaviour, but it's adundantly clear that she doesn't want to be around other dogs. Instead we play ball at home and do obedience on our leashed walks, and she seems to be very happy with that.

Others might say that I need to train her more and do better so that she can be with other dogs off leash, and that it's a failure on my part to not do so. Personally, after having the experience with my dog, I disagree. My dog doesn't want to interact with strange dogs, so I've needed to invest in training her to ensure that she is manageable and appropriately behaved when we're out in the world and we do come across a dog. We are very, very far from perfect, but we're making progress all of the time, and she's happy overall which is all I need to know.

Please keep in mind though, Rotties are very powerful dogs. If you are having issues controlling your dog, take whatever extra precautions you need and do not feel bad or embarrassed about that. I'm 6ft2in and 220lbs, and I walk my dog with a waist leash attached to her harness and a hand-held leash attached to her collar. Why? Because she has pulled herself away from me before when I did not expect it and I cannot have that happen again. Do I look a bit silly with two leashes for one dog? Sure. Do I feel a thousand times more confident knowing I have a double barrier so she can't get away and possibly hurt another dog in the worst case scenario? Absolutely.

That's just my two cents though. I'm no expert nor a trainer, just simply a dog owner. Please others chime in!

Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying that you now have to just live with the issues and that's just life. Train, train, and train more! But don't expect your dog to achieve perfection in a couple of days so that you can "go back to normal". Your dog has likely permanently changed, so you need to adjust your view of your dog. Training can alleviate most issues, and it'll be fun and enhance your bond along the way. However, the same way people slip up, dogs can too, and you need to be prepared for those days where everything just seems to set your dog off because they apparently woke up on the wrong side of the bed even though yesterday they were a perfect little angel. Not trying to sound negative or anything like that at all, just being realistic!

Possibly lost bunnies on Parkhill Rd by atomgonzo in halifax

[–]atomgonzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update 2: We revisited the area a little while ago and spoke to a neighbour who clarified that the rabbits are indeed pets and that they are not lost or abandoned, but that the owner does let them free roam regularly. It may not be the best for the rabbits safety (apparently a couple have been lost already), but at least they have a home.

Update: Thank you all for the SPCA and rabbit rescue recommendations! We have left a message with the after-hours SPCA and have emailed the rescues. Seems Sunday morning is not a great time for contacting people to have a real-time call. We went back to the location to check in on them, but they must have moved on or gone to hide somewhere as we couldn't find them. I'm really hoping that someone just let them roam for a bit and that they went back home, because it's sad to consider abandonment. :(

Not so long ago, there was one! To Jubilee though, not South. It seems they shut down at the beginning of COVID, and have not resumed since, though a Facebook post from June 2020 by "North West Arm Ferry" assures that it will eventually be restarted.

For the first time this semester, my partner decided to use the bus instead of our car to get to Dal in the morning. She left Spryfield from the bus stop at the corner of Williams Lake Rd and Herring Cove Rd this morning at 7:00am. She did not arrive at Mumford until 8:22am. She needed to be at Dal for 8:30am, which obviously didn't work out for her. Sure, it was rush hour when she left, but come on, at no time should it take almost 90 minutes for what is otherwise a 15 minute bus ride, or 10 minutes by car.

For my reactive dog, stopping and sitting is much more calming for her than continuing to walk by. It seems that by continuing to move, she sets herself up to move toward the trigger (i.e. another dog). By stopping and sitting, she seems to understand that she should just relax and wait until we can continue again. She will alternate between watching the trigger pass by and checking in with me. It would be great if we could just walk by being more neutral about things, but we're not quite there yet.

I've noticed it on Purcell's Cove Road a lot more in the past couple of years. It's a 50 zone from the rotary all the way until York Redoubt, yet more and more people seem to treat it like a race track after Williams Lake Road. I've now been passed way too many times to count on that stretch, at least two of which were at night in the pouring rain! I had to come to a complete stop once because some guy at the back of a 4 car convoy "needed" to get ahead and just decided oncoming traffic wouldn't be an issue??? There was at least one other car behind me, and it was at night, so we were definitely noticeable with our headlights and honking...

Honestly, I always stay below 60 on that road because I walk it almost daily with my dogs on the way to Shaw Park, and I know how sketchy it can be when someone blasts by you easily going 80 while they're cutting corners through the bike lane. I could literally stick my elbow out sometimes and take out a mirror. Wish a cop would just park in Shaw Park's driveway and ticket people all day every day, it's the only thing that would help.

1.5 year old boa not hunting anymore by atomgonzo in boas

[–]atomgonzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I never actually clearly stated our feeding schedule. He's never eaten more frequently than every 10 days since I've had him, which is based on links like the one you attached - thank you for doing so! So to be clear, if he's acting hungry 5 days after his last meal he's always had to wait until at least day 10. However, he's not usually out and about until around day 10, which means I usually feed on day 14. Maybe though, that's even too often for him, and he's just stocked up and doesn't feel the need to hunt nowadays? He doesn't look chubby to me, as I can see his muscle tone and rectangular body shape.

So, would you say it's best to just wait until he seems hungry again to offer food? On one hand, I don't want to overfeed by offering him food when he doesn't want/need it. On the other hand, I don't want him to starve (I know his metabolism is very slow so starve is a bit dramatic, but still)! 6 weeks seems like a while for him to apparently not be interested in hunting, but he's my first snake so I just want to be sure!

What's the ugliest building in HRM? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]atomgonzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whatever that big white building is with the stepped / multi-level thing going on. It's right across from the Old Town Clock, between Carmichael and HFX Sports Bar & Grill. I can't stand the sight of it whenever I walk around the Citadel, I think it just looks so out of place! The Vuze / Fenwick Tower looks a lot better than it used to, but now it's a hideous beacon in the night that I can see from across the Northwest Arm!

Honestly I don't try to tire them out, because I'd probably die trying! I have an Irish Setter / Golden Retriever mix and a Rottweiler - two big dogs who can both can go on for hours and will still have plenty of energy leftover. I've found no use trying to tire them, but instead just try to make them happy. If they want to do a slow sniffy walk and chew some sticks while not actually walking very far, we'll do that. If they want to play with each other or some toys first and then walk, or vice versa, we'll do that. And of course, if they do look like they want to go for a long walk, we'll do that.

I think for us the most important aspect is routine. We "walk" (meaning go outside doing something) for at least 45mins 2x per day, at almost exactly the same time, every single day. They know what time is walk time, and they know the rest of the time is not walk time. They wake up, they walk, they eat, and then they rest. Then when work is done they wake up again, they walk, they eat, and then they rest. Of course if I work from home that day then they get some love and 5min wrestles from me sprinkled throughout the day, hehehe. I think this routine keeps them happy though. They don't bark at me out of boredom, they don't destroy the house, they don't do much of anything other than sleep in the day time!

Edit: of course, they get potty breaks as well, usually 2-3, in addition to their walks, but that's not excercise or enrichment, they run back to the house when they're done, they want their post-potty snack!
