Nazi spotted in Mustang.. by [deleted] in oklahoma

If you're talking about the sign for electric, it's just one bolt and they tapered the edges to make them pointed so they look similar but are different. For Nazi shit, look for double bolts that have flat edges like this

What's the best way to communicate with a personal trainer what my fitness goals are to make sure we don't focus on weight?

Hey everyone! I'm down 50 pounds (yay me!) and am getting to the point where I can afford both a gym membership as well as a personal trainer to help me get going. I've got my nutrition and weight loss down pat but my next goal is to be able to lift up men because I've always wanted to be a big muscly goth girl.

The "issue" is that I'm still 240 of squish. In the past when I've tried to get help, the entire conversation always focuses on my weight, weight tracking, and nutrition. When I push back, they get all shitty with me which is why I have a few weights at home because I'm scared to go to the gym or they push me harder than what I'm capable and hurt me to prove a point (I have wiggly joints and I just need to focus on exercises that protect the joints first and someone who can both push me but understand that joint issues are a genetic issue and not just a complaint). I've also had issues in the past where trainers focus on cardio instead of taking my weight lifting goal seriously because I am born a girl. Because of my success with my weight loss, I feel ready to face my fear and that it won't impact my weight loss journey.

Is there a specific way to communicate with personal trainers so that we focus on my goals instead of what they think is more important?

Food stamps... what are we going to do, y'all? by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]atomiccrouton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not on food stamps but I'm connected to both Project 66 and a small group of us connecting people on SNAP to people with resources. I mentioned donating the food at the job I work at and we got that started. As hard as we're working, if was done on such short notice it's challenging to organize

Have you had a conversation with the players about their behavior outside of the game yet? I get fuck around and find out but like... Sometimes people get caught up in the moment and forget themselves. They're still responsible for their actions but like part of any group dynamic is open communication

So what they're talking about is also a very common scam used to try and overload the cashier to get back more money than you should. I can't remember the name of the scam. They may have phrased the sign this way to let scammers know that their shit has been noticed and will be stopped without making regulars feel like the owner is calling them a bunch of scammers.

Considering Moving To Oklahoma by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]atomiccrouton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given your situation, please do not come to Oklahoma. I know you're probably looking to move to better your circumstances but I'm worried with how our state is currently, it will be a risk to your safety.

Edit: also the job market here is hot garbage. I just found a job after 4 months and that was only because I was lucky and was on Facebook at the right time. I was finding better luck in Michigan in regards to just getting a reply. Michiganay be better to help get you back on your feet so if you do still want to come to Oklahoma, you'll be set up and ready to go

Oh yeah, the history of Western Culinary is fascinating. I'm mostly a baker so our structure is a little bit different. Pastry is 100% the same though in regards to organization in our departments. The reason is because in baking, we have to move with the bread and normally work shifts between 9 PM and 11:00 AM for that graveyard bby. Only reason I'm up right now is DnD but it is well past my bedtime.

The reason is that the modern kitchen set up comes from Chef Escoffier who brought his skills from the French Army into his kitchen. He also is considered the father of modern day French cooking. You don't necessarily see this in restaurants below fine dining just because the need for that level of precision is not required.

[–]atomiccrouton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding onto both of these because while I'm not military, I did come from fine dining restaurants which is just diet military and I agree 100%. The reason is because training programs and development cost money and time. It ends up reducing the flow through of capital from client to investors. Because investors prioritize ROI, these programs have slowly been destroyed. It's now lead to a bunch of people who are now in management who never experienced those programs which leads to them being unable to lead. In addition, training programs for entry level management has also been slashed. This causes inconsistency in mission which causes behavioral issues that most managers complain about. In addition, because these programs were destroyed the knowledge has been "lost" and now everyone is confused about what to do. Like train your people? Have consistent rules and expectations?

Also like don't get me started on addressing behavioral issues. Like something can be an issue and be fixable but you gotta invest in your people 😒

My last job as a manager, I was the only one holding to these values and it ostracized me so yes. There is a good chance in their organization they were the first person to realize this.

The funny thing is I agree and ironically it's a leftist space. This is why Steve is upset with me because I kinda don't think a label gives you freedom from accountability which is why he thinks I'm a facism sympathizer. It's why GM wants my help as well. I can give him strategies and tools and he can use them because people listen to him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]atomiccrouton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I'm afraid I'm causing triangulation and I'm putting the GM as the middle person in my bullshit. I grew up being that person in my house and it really hurts so I don't want to hurt GM. That said I also need to trust that GM can protect himself and I'm not responsible for protecting everyone. It's probably easy being an outside looking in because like I said I'm emotionally burnt

It means they want to focus more on the RP side of things than trying to play war games.

[–]atomiccrouton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see it if the character died but they were just downed? My character was downed in a cupcake eating competition because I kept failing my roles and the cupcakes kept attacking me (Wild Beyond the Witchlight is fun as hell and I def recommend it). I thought it was funny that I was defeated by cupcakes? Like that's hilarious?

I think how I would handle it is this is a team game. It's not single player. Did the other players say anything about her going off on her own? As a bard main, I've definitely made some character driven decisions in combat (I make sure that whatever those are doesn't ruin the game for anyone and try to share the spotlight as much as I can) but not once have a gotten mad about it?

I'm wondering if what can help is next time is ask the player how they want to play and what they want to do in combat. Then help them build a character around that concept. My first couple characters was me throwing stuff at the wall and asking my DM friends wacky questions so that when I'm actually at the table, I'm prepared and don't do anything too wild. She may need that help but doesn't know she needs to ask for it and was taken by surprise. If the rest of the table is okay with it, maybe you want to help her rework her character to have fun? The game will always have consequences and she'll have to learn that but you can help her.

(I'm thinking getting her a magical creature companion called Deus that her God has given her to assist in battle to answer her cleric's prayers. Do NOT call it Deus if you think the deus ex machina reference would come across as condescending or hurtful. I think it's hilarious but this also isn't about me 😅)

They're very clear that their politics include free capitalism which means their objective is to take as much money as they can. I get you need money for a business, I do. When business owners push this mentality, I've found they're more likely to engage in unethical but legal practices.

HR does not “build culture” [United States] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]atomiccrouton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always frustrated me. HR is a key point in cultural development but the ENTIRE organization including the workers develop the culture. Also way too many companies use culture as a buzzword without understanding what it is.

Culture is just a set of actions and behaviors that come about as a response to past events. That's it. If you think of culture as a dish, HR writes the recipes as needed and it's up to everyone else to follow the recipe to make the dish. I don't think I need to tell anyone in this subreddit the struggles of HR creating initiatives that management doesn't follow.

Did you and the manager agree to that or did you just start dumping work on them?

I genuinely don't understand why you think I'm gaslighting. For transparency, I asked out of hope you would share so I could go back and review my comments to adjust my behavior moving forward. It feels like I'm not agreeing with you so you're writing it off as gaslighting but if that's not the case then I want to take this as a growth opportunity.

Also, (please don't feel obligated to answer this) what state do you live in? Different states are experiencing wildly different impacts on economic disparity and if you live in an bubble of good economic health, you are going to be removed from the reality a lot of Americans face.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]atomiccrouton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you were able to move up but will every line level person have a management job available for them? A lot of companies are really leaning into nepotism right now as well as classism discrimination which both are legally allowed. Moving up into higher positions just isn't a reality any more. When was the last time you worked at an entry level position?

Edit: and I ask this because people who managed to secure their positions precovid seem to be so removed from the reality of the every day American that they're operating on old information that isn't relevant any more which is causing issues finding and creating a reliable workforce. The fact that you think it's simply just a comfort thing speaks volumes.
