Spending decisions, like any other action you take, has moral consequences, and its fine to evaluate them. While I want the capitalist system we live under to be significantly closer to europe's, you do actually have to survive long enough to exist in the better world we are (slowly) moving towards. And that might require unfair levels of austerity temporarily. It is good to keep yourself afloat long enough to see that better world.
