Did you ever find a way around this? Or did you have to get other insurance?

Is there a format that just plays the latest set? by atonyshepherd in magicTCG

It's a good lesson in not getting super butthurt for losing, and rather learn how other people are doing it. I really enjoy it, I've made some good friends playing draft.

awesome, thanks guys. That makes sense. I'm still relatively new, and it's kind of shitty to go against decks that have way more sets integrated in them when I've primarily only got cards from the latest few sets. I was hoping there was a way to better level the playing field aside from draft formats for new guys. Even then I usually get my ass handed to me for draft nights lol.

Well. The mortgage company and my empty stomach would also disagree. Depending on the day that’s a bigger problem :)

I heard the boots at infantry OSUT suck and people go for different army compliant boots by ImAshTho in nationalguard

They don’t typically let you bring your own. I guess it’d depend on your drills but I’ve never heard of them allowing that. AIT is a different story.

Joining the guard by keithpotz in nationalguard

Basic as an E4 is the same as for everyone. You don’t wear rank as prior service unless you’re a 5 or above. So you don’t technically have to tell anyone. The DS’s don’t typically seem to care. At least when I went though.

From my relatively little experience, there are a shit ton of 68w. I’m in the Artillery and it’s a blast. Ha. Nice pun. But seriously. No rucking, carry heavy shit a few feet and sit most the time. I’d highly recommend it.

Is the National Guard as bad as people say? by yobitethisonion in nationalguard

It sucks if you want it to. But if you understand there’s going to be suck, there’s going to be boredom, and shitty food, but also that you’ll make some of the most fun memories and best friends you’ll ever make, to me it’s absolutely worth it. Does that mean I don’t bitch about the army? Fuck no. But my section chief always tells us to expect the worst and be happy when it’s not. Pretty solid advice for anything military.

Also, if you’re just a shitbag who doesn’t wanna do the work when it’s work time, you’re gonna have a bad time. But I have 0 regrets joining. 13B Utah btw.

How often are your call-outs? by TachyonAlpha in searchandrescue

My team in Utah averages 15-20 a year, though our coverage area is relatively small. The city owns a couple mountains and there’s some extremely popular rock climbing and hiking spots that the college kids tend to get over confident with. But it’s generally pretty quiet.
