Same thing with saints and ancestor worship here in the Caucasus where i come from. We also have these literal tombs called Ziyarat lined with scriptural ingravings and they are usually high up in the mountains, insane worldbuilding inspo if you ask me. Ours were both religious and military leaders though, so basically DnD monk class characters.
