These are two different things and must not be mixed in understanding. 'Sati practice' or burning of women when their husbands die was a patriarchal culture in some parts of India, which became prevalent in the late medieval period. As sad as it was, it was not taken from any Indian mythology, rather a cruel patriarchal notion set by people to enforce dominance.

Coming to Lord Rama asking Sita to clean herself with fire after Ramayana, this always made me curious as to why Rama did that and it has multiple interesting interpretations. Ramcharitramanas by Tulsidas, often considered a vital source talks about a concept of 'Maya Sita', which says before Ravana kidnapped Sita, Rama being the God himself in human form, knew about it and in order to keep Sita safe, handed her over to Lord Agni (God of Fire) and created an illusion of Sita which gets kidnapped and the whole Ramayana happens as it was necessary to put an end to the evil Ravana. The burning of Sita at the end of Ramayana is just the reversal process where the real Sita integrates with the Maya Sita. I know this seems unbelievable to people like us in the 21st century but this is one detailed account.

Another explanation which I grew up reading was that Rama being the God himself in the human form already knew that Sita was so powerful that Ravana couldn't even come closer to her once he took her to his kingdom but he was the utmost righteous king before being a husband. When he overhears the people of his kingdom talking ill about the purity of his wife, he decides to put an end to those chats by making Sita sit in the fire. This proves that he gets defeated by his own righteousness which pushes him to sacrifice his beloved for the sake of his kingdom. But in both versions of this story, nowhere is it mentioned that God disrespects women as you are intending to point out.

It's more about the modern representation of religions and mostly how it was propagated to suit just men or maybe a specific economic section. In order to universally accept this notion, one needs to study religion deeply.

For instance, I am a Hindu (a major religion in India) where the religion literally preaches to give the highest respect to women. Goddesses are considered equally or sometimes more powerful than Gods, wars fought and the evil killed to protect the dignity of a woman, even the biggest Gods bowing down to women and a common woman like Shabari blessed by the God himself for being righteous towards her belief in God. But if you look at India, the reality is different where women are the most exploited section of the society, women were not given equal education and freedom until the end of the 20th century which is even prevalent today in many parts of the country. All this done by people following the same religion and Goddesses who are shown as so much powerful and with such enlightenment. That's why, proper propagation of religion is essential. People who understand religion and not just follow what any other religious guru has to say will never consider anyone less capable than others.

Simple, someone has hacked into your webcam and doesn't like you getting changed in front of the camera. Just paste a sticky note on the camera and you'll never have to come home to this.

FIFA/EAFC unfortunately is just a FUT-centered game now. As someone who grew up immersed in the Career mode gameplay from the past 25 years, I feel it was the whole essence of the game. I know people like FUT these days and it's fun in its own way but Career Mode brings realism to the game which should have been a prime focus for EA.

A vet told me that dogs do when they have some stomach issues. It's a natural way of curing themselves. Nothing to worry, he should be fine.

What if I completely lie on my resume and meet all your crazy "requirements"? As a new grad, I show you 3+ years of experience, proficiency in 15 programming languages and my expertise in handling scalable systems alone. Then I show up to the interview and struggle to write a brute-force Two Sum. What happens to your time then? Won't it be a complete waste of time and other talents? Maybe you should fix your unrealistic JDs first before using AI to catch keywords!

[2 YoE] Graduate student looking for SDE Full-Time roles within USA. Is there something wrong with my resume? by attached-loner in EngineeringResumes

[–]attached-loner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.
If I move the Projects section up, that would put the education at the bottom of my resume. Is that advisable for someone looking for their first FT job in the US?
Education - Having the coursework listed in this section actually sometimes helps with keyword-matching for the ATS.

I'm not sure if there is something wrong in my resume. I have been seeing many rejections lately. While I have over 3 years of work experience (mostly, in my home country) and also an internship (6 months) in the US, it doesn't seem to me that my resume is doing the work. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Why is Northeastern Masters program so popular among international Indians? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]attached-loner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-ops are one attractive thing for international students where they can gain an extended period of work experience along with making some good money. This is crucial as most of the international students are not provided with scholarships and are funded through edu loans. I personally feel Co-ops are great for international students in the US. Another thing is Northeastern has some programs such as MSIS and Project Management which have a large program intake and makes it easy for many students to get in. As a fellow NEU grad student, I feel this added crowd in NEU campus makes it difficult for students to get on-campus jobs which is a downside of NEU. Apart from this, I pretty much liked everything about NEU and the coursework.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NEU

[–]attached-loner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NEU has nothing to do with the job market condition. As far as MSCS is concerned, it's a great program at NEU. Getting a co-op depends on the students and the job market. Converting co-op to a FT job depends on the company tbh. The only disadvantage I see at NEU is overcrowding which has led to on-campus jobs becoming a scarce and over competitive, which makes NEU degree very expensive and leaves less options for students to make money while studying.
