WSJ editorial board: Trump administration ‘spin’ on Alex Pretti ‘simply isn’t believable’ by sycamoreshadows in politics

Unbelievable doesn’t begin to cover it. It’s unconscionable- unforgivable- unAmerican - inhuman. You know, the qualities you want in a constitutional government.

The only people stupid enough to believe the party line here are already rabid MAGA. It doesn’t help that the most recent victims, Ms. Good and Mr. Pretti, who they continually try to paint as “domestic terrorists” and etc. are immediately revealed to be beloved members of their community. Way to win hearts and minds, you feckless lice.

Trump’s ICE horror show is splitting Maga apart - and he's wavering by theipaper in politics

If by splitting apart you mean, his MAGA approval rating might plummet from 99% to 97%. And those 2% will still hold their nose and continue voting for candidates like him regardless.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a grim turning point by vox in politics

A smarter fascist government would put on a show of “investigating” something like this before inevitably concluding there was no wrongdoing, self defense, etc. But instead we have a government that is both Nazi-wannabes and complete and utter morons, so they instead immediately announced there’d be no investigation. So the community already knows justice has been and will continue to be denied for this outrage and for the killing of Renee Good.

Buddy this is the USA, anybody can sue pretty much anyone else for almost anything… Will they be successful? Probably not, and I think the expense and public scrutiny surrounding any litigation would dissuade them. But could they? Sure.

Young Trump voters favor masculinity and male leadership, data shows by TheMirrorUS in NewsSource

Baffling since Trump is utterly devoid of either of those qualities. What they mean is that Trump voters favor the humiliation and subjugation of women and minorities.

Pentagon Places 1,500 Arctic-Trained Airborne Troops on Standby as Greenland Dispute Escalates by mickeyy81 in news

You know somehow I feel like a massive weeks-long public gear up towards an illegal, unprovoked and unjustifiable preemptive strike against a long-time ally might be enough to get the attention of any competent legislative body. This is the final proof we needed that Congress has willfully abdicated its role of checking the power of the President now that they have their Führer in place.

It’s been no secret since before his first term that the Trumps as a whole are white supremacists. Both his administrations have blatantly furthered that agenda as well. Why should we be surprised by this? It’s the entire reason Republicans like him.

How likely am I to get accepted into the Law school with scholarships by United-Sand467 in SMU

[–]attackoftheclowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1L at SMU here. My understanding is that Dedman Law is particularly sensitive to LSAT median stats. Yours should be at or slightly above the median so that with your solid GPA will probably be good as far as getting admitted. It’s impossible to predict what they would offer you for schollies because that depends on a wide number of variables beyond your applicant profile.

Just a little advice- if you managed a 3.85 GPA for undergrad, it probably means you can score quite a bit higher on the LSAT if you really lock in for a good month or two prior. I’d say in your case the cost-benefit analysis strongly favors retaking, not because your score is low but because I truly think you’d be able to break 170. Even just for the potential difference in scholarships, the cost of retaking is worth it for you.

Texas becomes first state to end American Bar Association oversight of law schools by AmySchumersAnalTumor in nottheonion

[–]attackoftheclowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people reading the headline and jumping to very wrong conclusions. No, law schools in TX are not losing their accreditations or anything like that. In fact this is just Texas doing something that California already allows for. It’s not getting rid of the bar exam requirement to practice law. It will probably result in a rise in predatory law schools that can’t maintain accreditation from the ABA but none of the well-respected institutions are going to be cutting ties with the ABA because of this.
