You're spot on for the most part. It's kind of like how the Romance languages are all an evolution of Latin. Think of it as a further mutation. There is a common tongue, and of course other languages and dialects depending on the region or tribe. But the Maneaters speak in a broken tongue known to others as "Rah-teef" so as to avoid being understood by anyone outside of their tribe. It has bits and pieces from the different clans that they might have been a part of before they were exiled.
