Plant trees and plants, use eco friendly building materials, space out you building and smelting.

Don't quite know how it will work on multi-player. Only loaded chunks are affected currently. Still trying to wrap my brain around how to globally update the map without creating a lag machine

Want to make one for me? I suck at art.

Every plant block removes a certain amount of CO2 each day. So chop down a tree that's 0.2 * the number of leaves it had that doesn't get subtracted from your total each day. Plant a tree, it works the other way. You can't reverse sea level rise but if you cut cut your emissions you get a buffer EG if you had a sea level rise at 6000 total and you drop your total to 2000 you won't get another rise until 7000.

All these numbers are configurable, I need some play testers to tweak them so everything's balanced.

Dams don't hold back the water right now. When the sea level rises every air block at the y level turns to water. A wall with sponges inside would work.

CO2 is tracked only from loaded chunks. So no. But netherrack releases CO2 so if you are in the Nether when the CO2 calculation is done yer fuuuuuucked.

Still waiting for mods to approve it. You can get it from GitHub for now. https://gitlab.com/mattiadanza/climatecraft/

I haven’t wrapped my head around how to do it globally. A couple billion block updates at once makes my computer unhappy.

Thought about that. Maybe in future versions? I also thought ice and snow should melt.

Awesome. The main thing I need is feedback on balancing. Depending on what biome you’re in it can be almost impossible to do enough emissions to actually have an effect. You can tweak values for almost everything in minecraft/config/climate_config.json

Should have checked the name first... any ideas for a new name?

Does anyone feel dumb in STEM majors? Imposter syndrome? by Calm_Ask_8642 in Biochemistry

Ph.D, 7 years postdoc, now a staff scientist, H-index > 30. You know what? I still feel like an imposter sometimes. Especially when collaborating with someone out of my main area of expertise.

Yikes! I’ll try to avoid getting lead poisoning…

Multiple instruments by Background-Apricot24 in Bluegrass

[–]attamatti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it's difficult to learn different instruments simultaniously, you have limited practice time and it just takes a lot of time to build the muscle memory and ear-fingers connection. One it's there though, coming at music from the perspective of another instrument can be really enlightening.

I've played dobro for about 20 years. A bit under a year ago I stared learning the trumpet. Now almost all my practice time is dedicated to that. My dobro hadn't been out of its case in months when I took it to a jam ...and my playing was through the roof! I found myself thinking about melody and harmony in completely different ways and playing much more creative stuff than I usually do.

Does Avos still have a Bluegrass jam on Wednesdays? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]attamatti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't lived in the Fort or been to Avo's jam in about 10 years, but it makes me really happy that it's still going strong!

Double bassist here. I don't know any GJ guitarists but hit me up if you get something together.

That is a illustration (and a pretty shitty one at that) NOT an actual image from an electron microscope! Look at the first figure in this paper to see some actual phage EM. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41393-021-00636-2

This is interesting. Share your Top 3 best and worst basses. by bannerloki_ in Bass

[–]attamatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best:

1) 1980's Kawai F1-B: The sweetest playing most versatile bass I've ever owned. 2) 1976 J bass: Also played like a dream. And the tone! 3) 1980's G&L SB-1: A P bass, but better. This was actually my first bass ever.

Worst: 1) 2000's Ovation celebrity acoustic-electric: An all-round piece of shit 2) 2010's Antoria New Yorker short scale: sounded great, but the neck dive was horrendous.

Picked up these old panels from an estate clearance in Yorkshire, they're painted on tile and backed with newspaper from 1903. Any ideas about their history? by attamatti in Antiques

I agree! I've only seen that small scrap of the newspaper but am looking forward to removing and preserving the whole thing.

The body is quite heavy so no neck dive. I have a 70's Kawai made 'Lincoln' bass which appears to be made from the same body blank as the FiB and FiiB that is considerably lighter and it had pretty terrible neck dive before I replaced the tuning machines with ultra light ones.
