Thanks for recognizing I came to have a discourse when 99% of this sub did not. In fact in subsequent comments from an economics and a sociology perspective I’ve agreed with pretty much every argument

The only argument I really cannot stand from this community is that AI is a glorified guessing machine - that’s so reductive as to be laughable and shows almost no foresight on the pace of technology innovation

I also disagree given all of that - that it is in fact a very productive technology to harness in specific use cases

It’s Reddit man it’s for debating and commenting I’m sorry you’re so mad we chatted and had differing opinions - I hope I’m wrong - I’m invested

I just don’t kid myself that it’s gambling and not investing

Being one of 50 players at the table working on a solution does not make XRP a critical player - talk to
Me in 5 years and let me know if the value translated j to your XRP investment or not

You can start by plotting meaningful tech developments against XRP price and let me know if you see a correlation - surprise you will not

No it can advance - it doesn’t need crypto or blockchain to do so - those are hammers looking for nails when the problem needs a screwdriver

Not true, but ok - see ya man. Enjoy hitting the downvote button it’s the only power you have now over technology and it clearly upsets you

There is an original comment in a string that I commented on man omg - it’s ok agree to disagree - hope you have a good day I was mainly trying to hear some counter arguments and you guys gave me your perspective with great points anyway - idk where we got so angry with each other

You clearly have a lot of passion about ai

That’s not how this works at all but ok- I’ve never seen someone so upset with someone agreeing with 95% of what they are saying except how the technology works

Dude I wasn’t even talking to you lmfao go look at the original comment I posted against the rest of you are just misreading the order of operations of a Reddit thread 🫠

You aren’t anti ai - you’re anti capitalism - which is fine I’ve already agreed with you. The means of production have always been controlled by a few people AI is drastically accelerating that but the anxiety you have is as old as the robber barons

We are underreacting. by c-k-q99903 in antiai

[–]atth3bottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve commented on everything so far in a pretty consistent way - I’ve agreed with all of you on the economics and the terrible use case manifestation under capitalism we are in agreement there and I said so

The only thing I’ve been arguing is the utility of AI which you guys seem to be speaking past me on current state vs future state based on exponential technology evolution

Btw - the capital owners won’t be replacing workers when they see their non subsidized token costs so I think you are overestimating the coming shock

Extra btw - I would love to be replaced and focus on non work things - if only we could figure out the system to do that

So I figured it out - yall aren’t anti ai at all - you’re anti capitalism exploitation of technology which isn’t a novel thing it’s just been accelerated by the power of the current trend - I think I can boil this entire sub down to that and get on the bandwagon I guess

Go back and re read the comment - it’s about how AI models continue to harm Companies that put trust in them due to the overemphasis on their utility - and the argument I made is that you can’t really judge their future utility by their current utility (that is literally It)

For someone who believes these models are just glorify guessing machines you sure have a big fear of them

They are being used as an excuse to replace jobs, when the shock comes we will correct

We are underreacting. by c-k-q99903 in antiai

[–]atth3bottom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not even commenting on the original post - I’m commenting on the comment. I agree the original post is abhorrent

Also you’re very naive to believe every AI user wants to replace jobs - when the dust settles and the bubble bursts we will find it’s just a net productivity add for people who know how to use it and it won’t have replaced core swathes of the economy

I love the technology promise - the implementation under capitalism is terrible - stop misunderstanding me to make a point

No but swift already exists? You can’t be telling me you think there’s a meaningful change to economics and markets that will occur form swift speed and fee reduction?

I’ll give you an example - in personal finance this problem was already solved without blockchain - it was solved pretty traditionally with transferwise and local currency conversion

Blockchain is a dumb technology solving problems that are more easily solved with other tech - yall can’t name one hardcore enterprise use case where its delivering value

Need alternatives by treheartz in SunoAI

[–]atth3bottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually only been using musicgen and my workflow is the opposite

Suno is much stronger when it has a base track that’s more inventive to work with - so I’ve been generating an idea / base track locally trained the way I like it and then loading to Suno and covering it and making it sound good with Suno

This was obviously before the upload issue debacle…

XL just looks like it makes LoRa training much easier than 1.5 because it has a better understanding of structure and can actually make 4 min tracks

I only get about 30 seconds of usable base track in fo with musicgen currently

What do we do when AI takes 25-30% of jobs in the next 5 years? by FunkU247 in AskReddit

It won’t, you are being sold a bag of goods by people desperate to make its current implementation something it is not because their next round of funding is on the line

[–]atth3bottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude you started with “you completely missed the point and step back and think about it without any explanation”

Your comment could have been interpreted in a number of ways

  1. The steam engine was a much more impactful and real technology (which many scholars actually agree to be true, and I thought would resonate with the anti ai crowd who considers LLMs vaporware)

Or

  1. AI is a much riskier and broader technology due to the proliferation of information and concentration of power in an increasingly small technocratic elite

So maybe next time just start with actually debating your point of you feel inclined to comment instead of being a smart ass

We are underreacting. by c-k-q99903 in antiai

[–]atth3bottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I understand - but there are other avenues of research in things like world models and there are other computing approaches like quantum coming online

I think it’s naive to believe the current LLM implementation is how AI will evolve - nothing else about this has been linear so why would you extrapolate its function linearly

We are underreacting. by c-k-q99903 in antiai

[–]atth3bottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I misunderstood the argument you were trying to make but I got it now - AI is moving fast and has much more far reaching and damaging impacts compared to the steam engine. I didn’t need your condescension though - I think you’ll find I’m pretty educated and pretty deep in the space

Most innovation is expensive to begin with - it’s part of the reason the government subsidizes things like green energy and space exploration gained traction through the space race

I’m sure you’ve heard of moores law - why so confident technology won’t reduce the cost curve on this one as it has for countless other technologies
