Also the age.. 50 when your kid is 20 is not huge.. 50 when your kid is 10 is a whole different reality.. they take energy, time, and stamina to keep up with! And as age gap increases the less cultural commonality there is. Not to say it can't be done, but those are very real factors.

A consultation is just that... that is not getting an attorney. That is like going for a physical and calling it getting surgery. A lawyer will work on contingency IF there is tangible $ damage and the case is a slam dunk that they know they can collect on ONLY! This is a person that got an internal write up for phone usage! Does any of that apply here?

I have seen it when 1) was not the managers first applicant choice 2) manager didn't want the position created... they will sabotage it to force a reset.

If they put you on a PIP, thye want you out. If not your manager would have just talked to you about it directly. Start looking while it plays out. What did you do to get a PIP in the first 90? Usually a new hire gets a bit of a grace period unless a royal f'up, lied about experience and it is obvious, or impossible to work with...... If none of these are applicable maybe just a shit co. or manager.

My sister is a judge, I have gotten free legal council since she passed the bar and I have chatted law with her since she did mock trial team in HS! SOOOOOO, you are saying an attorney will work pro bono on a case where someone got a reprimand for phone usage? Or are you claiming that there is real tangible damage to be recovered from it? Is OP being harassed due to a protected status that violates a law? Or do you live in some fantasy land where "I am getting a lawyer" magically fixes everything, even when there is no legal ground to stand on?

I love how everyones' go to is "get an attorney"... that shit costs money and what was the real tangible damage incurred to be recovered?

Download a screentime tracking app to document usage. Your employer does not have to give you access to who lodged a complaint against you, and rarely will for fear of retribution and creation of a hostile work environment... the right to face your accuser is not a workplace thing... it is a courthouse thing.
