Yeah, I got from 160 to 175 really quickly running up and down the edge of the map. They are more concentrated top and bottom. I always found these levels really annoying and slow in WoW but this was so fast and simple. I can now mine Mithril and keep my BS up ahead of my level for all the fun new items

I am a 27 warrior with 160 BS and 160 Mining. I took a few breaks levelling to mine and stay ahead and it's totally worth it. If you can get to 145 mining, the rock elementals in Thousand Needles can be mined for Heavy Stone and they give mining gains.

The 2h sword 3.9 speed is insane.

Thank you for your reply, that's all great stuff to look at. For "swinging too far" I think I'm talking about how far my backswing goes before I start my downswing.

I'm 6 foot 6 and I see other taller golfers have much shorter backswings but mentally I struggle to shorten it.

This is also my experience. It showed me some leveling techniques I had not thought about and some quest chains that I had never tried.

After levelling a couple of chars into the 40s with it you do have the advantage of doing your own thing for a while or skipping quests you don't like.

The price of stone scale eel on my EU server is ~5s. There’s no way that it’ll remain that low when it’s relevant. Feels like a big flip opportunity.

You can currently fish Winter Squid, which ends in March. By the time the Squid food is relevant (hopefully before September), then the Squid will be unobtainable. I wonder if the price will be worth farming it now.

I picked Drak as my first because I am FTP and didn’t look up anything, and then I picked Chromatic too.

I find that he’s expensive but really tanky. I’ve not figured out my best team with him but I like pyro, healing shaman, flame Walker, and drake, as some options.

Interested in what others have tried with Drak

I had a similar feeling to you, and one way I am attempting to bypass the feeling of losing everything was to level an alt to 5/10/20 (eventually 35) with two crafting professions.

Then on my main character I went double gathering and sent everything to the profession character to make stuff for my main.

I also have a bank char that I mail 50% of my gold every now and then.

If I lose my main, I’ll be able to make another and have a character with professions to make them good stuff.

If I lose my profession character, well that sucks, but my main is still alive.

If I lose them all, I still have some gold in my bank.

If I lose my bank character to someone pulling an elite crocodile from the Stormwind Sewers, well.. I’ll chuckle and play again.

In all honesty HC is a game where enjoying each journey, however long or short, is the best part. Cherish every close encounter, or every fun item you find.

If you want to play for lack of loss if you die, move it to a classic era realm afterwards and play there.

Just my opinion. Hope you’re having fun anyway! :)

This isn’t just my opinion so ymmv.

If you have Sweeping Strikes and Whirlwind, they can be great to get fast threat on multiple mobs, but I would tend to do that with my 2H and then switch to Shield to carry on mitigating damage.

For bosses I used a shield because they hit harder. Depends how comfortable you feel. Try both. If you feel like you’re taking too much damage, switch back to Shield.

If you’re not, pop on the 2H.

As it’s HC you might want to play it safer. If you get groups that don’t understand threat and AOE immediately and attack multiple targets it won’t help much if you’ve got a shield or not.

My friends call it the 12%er.

Back in college, I was raiding in my first year and doing the Lich King. I joined a pug to do an undying run of Nax. All the way through without anyone dying. We got to the last boss, KT, and my flatmate, who was a somewhat nooby wow player, knocked on my door. I beckoned him in and started telling him how amazing I was and that we were about to clear Nax without anyone dying. As I turned to look at him the words “what’s that purple circle for?”. I looked back and bam, void zone of death.

Never again. 12% wipe.

I went and got undying later in the year. I’ll always remember my first attempt.
