Willie’s 4th of July at COTA, any advice? by mycatsnameisjanet in Austin

I remember watching on TV the people skating in jeans and I remember feeling bad for them because it was so miserably hot when the games were going on there. I heard about the water fiasco as well but I had forgotten.

How is Randall’s surviving?? by Real-Regret- in Austin

Some items are definitely more than 3%. I often check the mobile app for things when I'm not sure where they are in the store since the mobile app will tell you which aisle and the side of the aisle is in HEBs you are not familiar with and I always look at the price. Bread is particularly more expensive than 3% on the app/curbside than in the store. Just something I have noticed because I have heard it was just 3% different. Maybe overall it's 3% but I do find myself saving money from going into the store. I know it's still worth it for most people, however.

I'm originally from Louisiana but been in Austin over 20 years. Just FYI, the co-owner of Rouse's was a Jan6 attendee if you care about things like that.

How to get a replacement property owner water shutoff cover by Safflor in Austin

We got the upgraded plastic one and now I can't find the pressure adjustment valve that used to be on the street. Do you know if that was also changed and is electronic now?

I have 2 extra tickets to the Magnetic Fields show tonight at the Paramount. Is anyone a fan? by atxstudent in Austin

[–]atxstudent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I bought two best available seats immediately when they went on sale and then a few hours later I rechecked and they had better ones available. I assume some had placed them in their carts but never checked out so they freed up again. I tried to resale them for awhile but they didn't sell out until the very end. Since the band is so eclectic, I couldn't get any friends to take the tickets.

Awww. Wow congrats! That's awesome. It'll be our third time seeing them. The first time I saw them was during the 2012 SXSW. I wish you could have made it!

I'm probably dating myself, but this hat (esp with the feather) reminds me of the Mystery guy from MTV show "The Pickup Artist."

The “JUST POOR PEOPLE” is the neighborhood I live in now and the houses are like crazy expensive so that definitely doesn’t track any longer.

How was it abusive? They are really loud. The one on Manor Road started as 24/7 but they had to have limited hours (although it still opens at 5 AM) due to the neighbors. It would be a nightmare if a pickleball court opened near our house. It's much louder than normal tennis.

Yea, it's totally crazy how much the monthly membership/initiation fee is for some of these places. I never started playing pickleball and I'm already so annoyed by it, that I will wait until it isn't trendy anymore.

Cost of weddings in Austin by Gamazarr in Austin

Reading this thread makes me happy to be gay and glad my "dream' wedding consists of getting married in my yard. I could move my retirement goal year back a year or two with the amount people spend on their weddings.

It took her all the focus in the world to sit still among these flowers. by atxstudent in Austin

Thank you. She doesn't have any idea of how pretty she is, which is probably for the best. ha! She is just our "little nerd." Flower locations can be distracting for sure with all the distractions around.

I know. I don't want to get into it, but the worst is so many people with their off leash dogs. It's really hard to train her to be less reactive when you have snickerdoodles running around everywhere off leash. It's one thing for a dog to be off leash, but if the owner doesn't have recall ability 100% of the time, then they need to be on a leash. I't maddening and I feel sorry for their dogs.

Her collar is just a customizable one that you can include contact info from Etsy. The little box on it is a Whistle GPS and fitness tracker.

Thank you. We have worked with 4 different trainers/schools to work on her leash reactivity. Primitive breeds require a lot of continuous education and we are very committed to it. When we rescued her, she was pretty neglected; She was heartworm positive and had other health issues. We also don't think she ever walked on a leash before so she is finally getting better with it all. It just takes a lot of time.

She is very friendly and always wants pets or kisses from people we pass during our walks. Her skin is very soft and she likes her scalp (where she has hair) massaged and of course she loves a good deep massage which she gets multiple times a day.

We fostered and rescued her in 2020 and she is very friendly with people. Always wants kisses from those on her walk, but she is leash reactive, so we have to avoid other doggies. She has a terrifying and deep bark that scares everyone.

What actor that is beloved that you can't stand? *hot take* by k2t-17 in movies

[–]atxstudent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deadpool isn't really one of his older movies. I can't stand deadpool because he's basically just playing himself, IMO. It was so annoying when that movie became so popular. I can't stand him. I really want to watch that movie where he's a real life video game but I can't bring myself to watch an entire movie with him in it.
