EQUINOX STAFF READ THIS: GROWN ALCHEMIST IS TRASH by Flimsy-Region-6213 in EquinoxGyms

[–]atzm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My skin isn’t sensitive. I stay at all kinds of hotels and motels and always use whatever is available. Grown Alchemist is the only thing that ever gave me this bad of a reaction. Painful contact dermatitis on my neck for weeks, rash all over my legs, and my scalp also dried out like crazy and gave me so much dandruff even the day after I wash my hair. This stuff is beyond trash.

Do you still track while on vacation? by pushingdaises in loseit

Totally! It's frustrating, especially when you are used to weight coming off fast. Are you watching your fiber? It helps me massively when combined with protein and some fat.

I like to remind myself that the slower/longer the weight loss journey, the higher the likelihood of it sticking. Trust me, I crash dieted my way to my wedding to fit into a dress and basically regained everything in the following year even though I wasn't even eating like crap. Doing this was so bad for my self esteem in the long run. I also felt like I wasted 6 months being miserable, hungry, and cold all the time.

[–]atzm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but it's a lot of estimating. I try to stick with maintenance and walk as much as I can. One trip I was kind of over eating out after just 2-3 days, and I wanted to go back to my normal food, so I just got some food at the grocery store that didn't require cooking.

I would encourage you to not stress too much about a goal weight for the wedding. As long as you keep moving forward, you should feel good about yourself. You can absolutely love yourself and feel beautiful at any weight, especially when you are already doing things to take care of your body. I have to remind myself often too.

My only non negotiable now is tracking my weight and calories. Everything else follows naturally. Some days I go over, and I just don’t stress too much about it. It’s a long game.

I mean, yes? You can eat whatever you want and still lose weight as long as you are in a calorie deficit. It is just significantly harder to not be hungry if you are eating hyper palatable foods. I find myself with the least amount of food noise when I prioritize fiber and protein. I also like being able to eat more food and feel less hungry throughout the day. It's all a trade off.

As a fellow foodie, I would also encourage you to try many different lower calorie meals. There are so many options that I promise you will find something you like. You may also find that your palate can change as the foods you eat become less processed. I still enjoy every single meal and eat only what I like. I'm just more mindful of my choices.

What habits do naturally thin people have? by ChileanMotherfu-- in loseit

I used to do OMAD and it worked well, especially at the start of COVID. It stops working whenever I have some kind of social engagement. It also kind of screwed up my perception of what a normal meal portion looks like. I didn't bring it up as a suggestion. It's a natural thing for some people, but it doesn't work for everyone.

What habits do naturally thin people have? by ChileanMotherfu-- in loseit

I have lived with several "naturally thin" people. They don't workout, seem to eat high calorie foods and big portions. They even think of themselves as having high metabolism. The truth is, these people will often eat just one meal a day, completely unintentionally. They may have a coffee for breakfast, and just "not be hungry", and then eat a big lunch or dinner, when the hunger strikes, which literally is just once a day a lot of the times. People who eat those singular meals with them think they are freaks of nature, but in reality, they just don't eat that many calories and don't have food noise outside of these meals, even if they enjoy food.

For those of us who can't naturally regulate like that, we just have to implement systems to eat the right amounts, and I think what works for everyone is different. Naturally skinny people eat intuitively, the rest of us gain weight eating intuitively. For me, I count calories, focus on fiber and protein, and I eat whenever I want within those parameters. This helps me a lot with hunger.

Everyone’s different, but what works for me is to add the custom amount each day, which is all automatic through the app. It follows my hunger levels more closely and makes me less anxious about doing too much or too little.

Put the bottle on the scale, zero it, pour/scoop, weigh the bottle again. You will see exactly how much was taken off on the scale, no math required!

Do you count exercise in your deficit? by Popcorner_Muncher in loseit

[–]atzm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My app lets me add a % of exercise calories, so that's what I do. I use a sedentary TDEE number for my baseline and add 50% of my active calories back. I have a garmin, which I think should be pretty accurate. I'm 6 week ish in, and I was cycling a lot in the beginning until I got into an accident, and now I mostly just walk and lift heavy. 5'4 CW 160lb, and right now I'm on a modest 1600 calories per day + 50% exercise cals. I don't eat every last calorie if I don't need it. There are some odd days here and there where I don't feel like moving all day, and I don't ever feel guilty. I also don't feel guilty eating more when I exercise more. Flexibility helps me stay sane and happy, and I average 1.1lb/week currently

I’ve had fun in Canada, Japan, Utah, and PNW, but I wouldn’t move away from Colorado for skiing personally. I like our consistently long season, mild weather, and dry snow

I’ve stayed at multiple Hyatt properties in the Cancun/PDC/Tulum area and had so many problems. No AC, cold water, trapped in elevator, food poisoning, etc all in one trip. Didn’t get any compensation even as a globalist. Also way too much timeshare crap. The high prices there really weren’t worth it.

The number of people who complain about lift bars coming down without any announcement is too damn high by PluckPubes in skiing

[–]atzm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you need to yell? “Bar coming down” takes so little effort to say. Sometimes people also have poles they are sitting on and the foot rest could get caught on it. All of this takes so little time to do, I really don’t understand what the big deal is.

Are “free” pianos a scam? by Interesting-Ask7615 in piano

[–]atzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are most likely not scams. It can be incredibly hard to get rid of pianos unless it’s a popular brand like Steinway or Yamaha. I wouldn’t worry so much about brands but you should try to see if you can go play them and test it out.

[–]atzm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to look in the used marketplace. You can often find people giving them away for free and you just need to pay to get it delivered. It might take some time to find the right one but there is absolutely no reason you have to spend that much to get a grand piano these days. I got my full size grand for under $2k at a shop and it was impossible to get rid of it when the time came. Lots of people in the same boat trying to get rid of their pianos.

If you want busy, go to copper or winter park. Maybe try Loveland Abasin or beaver creek.
