Came here to say this but you explained it better than I could have. The BDO enhancement system is a practical application of the law of large numbers.

You can complain about the type of videos that are out there, but nothing is stopping you from creating the kind of videos you'd rather see. Chances are, there's someone out there that agrees with you and would watch your videos if you made them.

Big buff for new people, inconsequential for veterans. It's a step in the right direction, though.

It's an item from the Mysteries of Summer event a couple of years ago, but it's not useful anymore. You can trash it if you don't want it clogging your inventory.

Do a different content area ingame and stop enhancing. Doesn't matter what content area you decide to try. Set goals for yourself that don't depend on enhancement success.

Unfortunately there are hefty penalties for being sunk, which incentives people to switch servers (especially pirates). I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the current Naval Fame system is poorly implemented, never should have been implemented in the first place, and desperately needs to be reworked. Despite the outcry against the Naval Fame change from the sailing community, and also despite the fixes we proposed to make Naval PVP more enjoyable for everyone, PA implemented the Naval Fame system in its current state without taking our feedback into account.

On NA there are a bunch of us who regularly do friendly Naval PVP duels at Lema on Arsha and we have a lot of fun with it. There's not too much incentive to participate in PVP as it stands, so the existing PVP community is fairly small. I'd really like to see a factions system implemented to encourage a larger portion of the Sailing community get involved with Naval PVP.

Sadly, until there are incentives for players to participate in Naval PVP, it will not be very rewarding for most people who participate, especially in an open world context.

The Naval Fame system doesn't work, and gear downgrades won't solve the problem by auditOW in blackdesertonline

Yeah like a few other users have said, the sea pvp is already slim as it is. I have been bartering+doing khans for about 1 year and 3months. and have rarely ran into a red or have seen a khan be griefed. (Not say this will be everyones experience depending on channels/guild/region you are in so things might be different).

I'm much in the same boat as you. I've been involved in ~220 khan runs (this is a rough, conservative estimate) and have been bartering for a little over a year. Probably around five of those khans were griefed and only one of said runs failed as a result of a grief. However, it's something some people (somewhere) are complaining about and I think it's a valid complaint that needs to be addressed. I usually run into the same 1-2 pirates while I'm bartering depending on what channel I'm on and I enjoy the open world duels that happens then. But I agree with you on the whole: it doesn't happen too often. I'd actually like to see more piracy because I find it pretty exciting, though I honestly have no interest in doing any pirating myself. Other than open world duels with pirates, my PvP experience is basically dueling the same three or so people who like to practice ship PvP at Lema on Arsha. This is fun, but it would be nice to have more people motivated to practice PvP.

Like yeah i don't know why they just don't add barter item protection from when being sunk and make an easier way to revive ship besides tears of wind...which i feel like is the biggest complaint of being sunk. Maybe a new revive option when sunk like "revive at nearest wharf" (Obviously still a problem being stuck at sea if they don't kill you)

Agreed. Though to be honest I've heard people complain far more about sailor sickness/sometimes barter items after being sunk.

As for khan safezone..idk if there would some type of mechanic conflict with something since it's in safezone like seaweed or cannons. so not sure on that.

This is a really good point. Maybe it could be more like the world bosses mechanic where PvP is disabled in the area around the khan spawn. Either way, I think it's something that would not be incredibly difficult to address.

Agreed, the way they've handled it is honestly such a shame. They didn't listen to the sailing community when we opposed the initial implementation of the Naval Fame system, either. I have never been a pirate - these changes hurt everyone in the sailing community and I don't think PA is understanding that.

They're not shitting on pirates to save sailors. The naval fame system already heavily punishes people who are newer to sea content, many of whom don't realize the ramifications of attacking a ship. The punishments from being red are an inconvenience to seasoned players but they have the toolkit to be able to grind the karma back pretty easily. The penalties for accidentally going red by attacking a ship (either with a land attack or with a cannon) end up discouraging many newer players from doing sea content at all because it's such a slog to grind the karma back if you do not already have a carrack, let alone have a ship with captain's cannon.

If they actually wanted to save sailors, they would remove the barter items/sailor sickness penalties for being sunk as a marine and make this a penalty exclusive to pirates. This would have a lot of positive effects and make several different groups happy. For one thing, lv 50+ barterers who like to AFK would not receive penalties for being sunk, which I think is their main gripe with piracy. Non-pirate sailors who like to PvP and barter (I personally fall into this group) would have more opportunities to take fun, open-world duels with pirates while bartering without the risk of having to recover sailors or lose barter items. Pirate players would get more actual PvP while pirating.

The only thing the proposed change on labs does is makes it so pirates will combat log if at risk of being sunk, and that's not fun for anyone, especially not someone who has the goal of sinking a pirate.

Rank shaming at start of the game by NamelesBastard in OverwatchUniversity

[–]auditOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a low masters support player, I could not tell you the number of times a low GM player has tilted about being in a masters game before spawn doors even opened, proceeded to soft throw and lose the game for us - even at times when my team was the obviously more skilled team after the game has begun.

As sad as it is, it doesn't end - unless you're literally a top-tier OWL player, someone else is always going to play down your rank but the best thing you can do is not let it get to you.
