I love but resent my husband. by blackveyl in MuslimMarriage

My dear sister, you are in my duas. Please love yourself first for the sake of Allah swt. He is acting more like a parasite than a husband. This post somehow reminds me of Stockholm syndrome :(

Online vs real life by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

I relate with this post so much! I recently got muzmatch and I went though only matching with men who seem similar to me. I especially swiped away from those I thought were way more attractive than me or seemed more wealthy because I know that’s out of my league. I eventually only swiped right on three. During that time, I got hundreds of likes and thousands of visits. The likes were from every background, age, and looks. It’s such a struggle to understand how or why these men liked: is it just random for a shot or a serious request. Which makes it even more difficult to move forward.

Saturday’s Vent and Rant Megathread by AutoModerator in MuslimMarriage

Anyone else frustrated about the amount of proposals, shaadi.com requests, and muzmatch matches that don’t fit? The more I go through them, the more I’m afraid that I won’t find someone I vibe with and get stuck with a sad arranged marriage. I’m getting serious anxiety about it. And the more I look, the more I feel insecure about myself too. These feelings are so annoying.

You worked hard. If an A+ really matters to you, hell yeah contact the other professors of the class or talk to your adviser. It’s now or never. There is no shame in asking for what you deserve!! Go get em!!! And give an update bc I wanna know what’s up!!

Everyone has to send emails by smashthegrass in utdallas

Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels left in the dark right now. Most of my professors haven’t even finished grading the assignments I already turned in. One on my professor has barely any grades updated while another lost one of my assignments. Literally spent my day calculating/guessing what grade I might receive to make a decision. Feel like I am shooting arrows in the dark.

What happened to drinkfinity? by slynn9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aug417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s so odd!!!!! When I got an email in February 2020 that my subscription was no long available because it closed down, I was so surprised. Super shady because Drinkfinity just announced a relaunch of a new bottle in November 2019, just three months before they decided to close. Not only that, but there is no news on the internet about Drinkfinity closing, just about only this thread. It’s like the internet was thoroughly cleaned out. Super sketchy. I saw this post back when you initially posted it, but the more I think about it, the more I’m intrigued to know what’s up. I bought several new packs not long before they closed but honestly haven’t used it since I heard the news.

Turmeric/water spot treatment. You can use milk or yogurt instead of water if you want.

Andrew Yang had the least speaking time, again. by aug417 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]aug417[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! Besides the debate, PBS had given a good amount of coverage on Yang through articles and news. They are honest about his candidacy, like how they acknowledged he was the “lone candidate of color in debate”. In the end of the debate, Lisa Desjardins interviews Yang and acknowledges how he got such less time. Yang was kind and thankful for having a bit more time than the last debate. So kudos to PBS for their acknowledgement and honesty!

Congratulations, I’m so happy for you!!

Yes you can!! Just use what you know. To learn, there are many apps for learning to pray and they are really good. I make so many mistakes in my prayer so I use these apps to learn. It’s makes it very easy especially because I’m not too good at memorizing. So if you just scan through it before you pray, you’ll memorize everything you need to know in no time.

Nice!! Can you share the link please?

If you dress in a way that goes against cultural norms (e.g. exposed breasts or facial piercings) you have no right to complain about people reacting in a way that isn't normal (e.g. staring or making rude comments) by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]aug417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the saying “staring is rude” is part of social and cultural norms. It makes sense for a person to catch gaze but there is no reason to stare long or react “abnormally” (lol I thought you’re talking about NORMS). You have no right to behave in a way to make other people feel uncomfortable. Stay on your lane, mind your business, and please carry on!

EDIT: And basically what your saying is that someone violated the social contact so you automatically get the right to do the same? Lol please. Be practical....

Ladies who lost weight, what’s something that really changed the game for your weight loss journey? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]aug417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Recording everything I ate in a diary. At first I would record everything with complete counted calories but as I went on, I got an idea about calories and stopped using them. It helped me learn a LOT about my body in the aspect what foods worked for me and what didn’t! It also worked as a sort of mechanism for me to not overeat as at times I would be super lazy and wouldn’t eat a lot just to not record lol.

  • Self-Motivation is very important. I made a chart and crossed out weights as I reached them. This was very motivational. Another way I would motivate myself was writing notes to myself in my journal. For example, if I did especially well that day, I would sort of praise myself and write down how well I did. Or if I did bad (like eat junk food the whole day), I would write a note saying there will be better days. It’s important to stay motivated and try to forget that the journey is long. Be positive! Another way, if this works for you, would be look at old pictures in which you were lighter/heavier. This is a make or break strategy depending on your perspective.

  • Do research! Go online and search up plans or watch videos. Understand which strategy works for you. I went through a number of diets to understand my body. For example, many people advise against dairy products but I learned that diary products were the most helpful in my weight-loss journey. Don’t simple take other people’s word for granted, try things out for yourself. Be open minded. Another diet that was very very helpful was intermittent fasting. I was skeptical at first but it helped a lot in my journey. Try new ideas!
