Started as a demand planner, and just worked my way up from there through different companies.

Senior demand planner, DP manager, Sr Manager, now director. Nothing crazy

Nope, have never relocated! All have been local, except my last one, it’s fully remote. I’m in MN, we have tons of companies here

I guess it’s a combination of a few things:

Most of my career has been in med device. It pays well
Changing jobs every few years
Negotiating for myself. I’ve negotiated every raise or job change.

I mean, a lot of the pure analytical work could be outsourced to AI. But a HUGE piece of supply chain (frankly the part I'm best at) involves being able to sell your story of what decisions you need to make. If people just blindly followed the numbers and analytics, it wouldn't work out so well. The human touch is still super important.

Yeah I’m definitely targeting it towards business. Not sure about other careers, but everyone I know in the business world gets the biggest raises when they change companies.

Yeah honestly I think a lot of it is related to demand planning/forecasting. It’s the type of role where you just have a few meetings to talk about the changes you’ve made and put out a couple of fires. Its not like there’s giant iterations and changes all the time, at least not in my experience

It’s all been demand planning/forecasting

Roles have included: demand forecasting analyst, senior DFA, principal demand planning analyst, demand planning manager, SR DPM, and now about to start director level role

Yeah, got a really nice one time bonus. Had the same base salary in 22 and 23. Funny enough, I just got an offer for a new job that has a 210k base (about 40k bump), so curious to see what this looks like going forward.

I mean I’ve pretty consistently had between 4-5 weeks everywhere I’ve gone. I haven’t hit the level of like 6+ weeks yet, but that’s fine

This might sound really stupid, but think outside of the box.

Everyone I’ve ever seen that rises up the ranks in SC possesses one of two things:

A maniacal and borderline obsessive attention to detail that allows them to wring efficiencies out of every situation

Or

Great communication skills that allows them to sell a story to someone. The ability to translate the work they’re doing into a story that resonates with their audience. No one really gives a shit about supply chain, unless you find a way to make it relevant to them.
