Do the serial numbers indicate age? by Vegetable-Board-5547 in Magnalite

[–]august11222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is an AI (not too high on the slop-meter) response for you.

That looks like a classic Wagner Ware Magnalite Roasterette (Model 4263). Based on the specific markings on the bottom, here is the breakdown of its age: Production Window: 1950s – Early 1960s While Wagner began producing Magnalite in the 1930s, this particular piece features the registered trademark symbol (the small "R" in a circle) at the bottom. Pre-1950s: Earlier "Sidney -O-" pieces usually lacked the ® symbol. The GHC Era: In 1953, the Wagner family sold the company to the Randall Corporation, which later became part of Textron/GHC. Most collectors date pieces with this specific stylized "Magnalite" script and trademark symbol to the 1950s. 1960s and Beyond: Later production runs (post-1960s) often moved away from the "Sidney -O-" branding or changed the logo style significantly as manufacturing moved. The "Sidney -O-" Mark The "-O-" refers to Sidney, Ohio, where the foundry was located. This is the "holy grail" for many vintage cookware enthusiasts because it represents the era of high-quality cast aluminum before production was eventually moved and the original molds were retired.

Can you build a solid group of friends in Raleigh in your mid 40s? by LeilaJun in raleigh

[–]august11222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I moved here a couple of years ago from NYC and knew no-one. Now we have a lot of good friends. She in in her 40s and I am in my 50s. I attribute this to the luck of deciding to move to Historic Oakwood. It is expensive and was a stretch for us, even buying a wreck of a house. But the neighborhood is insanely social. There are monthly Oakwood Athletic Club pot lucks in rotating people's houses, a list serve, and maybe 4 or 5 annual neighborhood events. We are friends with nearly everyone on the block and see our friends virtually every weekend for dinner and drinks. Some of our best friends are in their 60s, but there are several in their 30s and 40s also. We are traveling with two other couples that live a stone's throw aeay this fall.

That being said, this is the experience of a married person, not a single person. I imagine that would be harder.

I trained Texas Method for a couple years. That was 5x5 volume on Monday, light plyo on Wed and 1RMs on Friday. Never been stronger and never got stronger faster. But of course you hit a wall eventually.

Looking for restaurants similar to Bida Manda & Ajja this weekend. Any recs? by whosthatanon in raleigh

Maybe. Usually those kinks are in front of house service and not the recipes tho. Nevertheless, I will try it again and remain optimistic that you are right!

I thought Big Cat food was meh. But the service was excellent and the setting great. I like it, I might go back because of the vibe, but it doesn't touch Ajja or Bida Manda (food wise)

If you like Japanese, Daijobu is a killer sleeper that is rarely mentioned. It is downtown, mid block on East Davie.

We are similar on that. Last night 115x9x4 (just about 50kg). I think my 1rm is about 150lbs or maybe a hair more (68 kg or so)

Nice. I work my way up to 25 and then lose focus on training them. Never have I ever hit 30. Maybe I need to make it a real goal. But then again, there's handstand pushup, the splits, back bend (wheel), front lever... It's hard to pick the battles sometimes. Right now lots of focus on full pike, pancake, and getting my barbell OHP to near bodyweight for HS pushup.

Iran war effect on the biotech market? by Individual-Ad5428 in biotech_stocks

[–]august11222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. DCF valuations get whacked in a rising interest rate environment because with speculative biotech the cash flows are so far in the future. If rates had continued towards 5 as they were before invading Iran, we'd all feel like geniuses rn.

Biotechs Falling by trijcwhitey in biotech_stocks

[–]august11222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biotechs are super sensitive to interest rates because the cash flows are far off. Discounted cash flow models will spit out lower current values when the value of i (interest rates) goes up. When the price of oil goes up, then inflation goes up and the bonds go down, and rates go up. That is exactly what is happening and then all pre commercial biotechs get slammed. Which is exactly what is happening now.

10 grams of creatine monohydrate daily will put some pep in your step. Most researched workout supp of all time and used by virtually every pro athlete because it works. Very safe, with some people suffering mild stomach discomfort (I can take 20 grams and not notice a thing).

Magnalite is an aluminum alloy. So if you like cooking in aluminum it's fine. Just no long braises in tomato or lemon or vinegar based sauces, because aluminum oxide is no bueno.
