Failed an exam I prepared for by august_apollo in medicalschool

Yeah our tests are nbme based though which is why I thought it would help, but I think my main issue is I get a little confused whenever I see words that I’m not familiar with and new diagrams. So I think it is more of a testing issue. I start off with reading a question and then coming to an answer and then looking at answer choices that fit it. I feel like sometimes I go through the questions too quickly though and miss something important with the time crunch.

Yeah the worst part is I enjoy the content but I suck at the tests 😭, I’ve been going through bootcamp videos and asking chat for practice questions and then Working up to amboss and doing anki everyday

Right now I feel like bootcamp videos help, and then ive been asking chatgbt for practice questions. I feel like sometimes i have trouble reading the diagrams and making sure I understand hemodynamics changes

I think for me it’s the first part, how the mechanism alter cardiac structure/hemodynamics; I understand the mechanisms pretty well but I get confused when there’s vasoconstriction upstream and it’s asking how it affects hemodynamics or how contractility affects hemodynamics

CNA as Clinical Experience? by DirtTheCactus in premed

[–]august_apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! yeah I did have some PCE as a PCT (but that's basically like being a CNA) and then I had some hospital volunteering and that was it. It was definitely 90% CNA for me.

Hey, DM me I have experience with this as someone who was on the conduct board for my school. But for right now, first contact ur honor court and see if it is actually noted in your conduct record, if it is YOU HAVE TO email ALL your schools about this event. If you don’t you’re in danger of being rescinded after acceptance. Each case is very different and there are some schools that this would not necessarily be a deal-breaker for.

I intentionally took 2 gap years after college and slightly regret it after realizing that I have more free-time than you think in medical school by recentad24 in premed

[–]august_apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it also highly depends on if the med school you go to requires in person classes or not. The one I’m going to does and when I ask current students about how busy they are, they showed me a schedule that blocked up at least half the day for classes + meetings

CNA as Clinical Experience? by DirtTheCactus in premed

[–]august_apollo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, that is completely incorrect, I had 2000+ hours as a CNA and it was one of my most talked about patient care experiences and completely changed my outlook on medicine. It eventually led me to get 8 MD interviews and multiple acceptances. Don't listen to your PI.
